Can they go to school?

I did PCR's on my two youngest on thursday because they had slight coughs and there brother had tested positive the week before. We're still waiting for their results but based on when symptoms started it has been over 10 days since their symptoms started (started Christmas eve and took a while to get PCRs delivered) so finished their isolation period anyway. But I'm not sure if we can send them to school while waiting for PCR results even if it has been 10 days. Lateral flows are negative but their brothers was too even though he was positive Confused

You did the pcr 6 days ago? Have you called 119?

Salamander91 · 04/01/2022 16:50

5 days. I was trying to be patient with it being so busy plus bank holidays. DH and I did tests too. His came back on sat at midnight but mine didn't come back until this morning.

think you may need to redo them as they shouldnt take that long to come back. We received ours on sunday posted them at 2pm that day and got the results back on bank holiday at 1pm. But if the lateral tests are negative with no lines at all should be ok to go to school

Fallagain · 04/01/2022 17:14

What date did their coughs start?

Comefromaway · 04/01/2022 17:15

Dh’s pcr result arrived today and he had it done at a test centre 6 days ago. There is definitely a delay.

Coughs started on christmas eve. I'm not worried about the tests being lost or anything. Like I said my results didn't come until this morning. I'm just wondering if we need to wait for the results since their ten day isolation period is up anyway.

When did they last do an lft? If they are showing as negative I’d say the 10 days are up so they are fine to go.

PurplePikachu · 04/01/2022 17:43

I’d send them as it’s been 10 days.

Salamander91 · 04/01/2022 18:02

Last Lft was on sunday. I think I'll send them tomorrow because if we had chosen to do the 10 days isolation instead of a PCR we would be done by now.

Yep you’ve done 10 days isolation since onset of symptoms. So they’re now free, irrespective of any test results.

canary1 · 04/01/2022 18:48

As they are well now, and it’s been over the 10 days, i reckon it’s fine surely?

WorriedGiraffe · 04/01/2022 19:07

I’m sure you are suppose to phone if you don’t hear results after 3 days. I’d have followed it up yesterday at the latest to allow enough time for a retest if needed. But if they’ve finished their isolation I would think they are fine to go in.

LondonQueen · 04/01/2022 19:34

Yes they are fine to come in.
