Pay when isolating

My son started a new job last week (restaurant) and got a call from his manager today to say that he needs to self isolate and get a covid test as he was a close contact to someone else in the workplace who has tested positive. Will he get paid whilst waiting on the result if he has to take a day or two off?

If he's vaccinated then be doesn't have to isolate does he?

I don't get paid if I'm off for covid related stuff. He needs to ask.

Does he need to isolate? We are told to get a PCR in our own time and are expected to be at work unless there is a positive result.

He’s been told he has to isolate until he has result of pcr test (were in Scotland). Might just mean he’ll be off for a day or two but just wondered about pay given it’s his work telling him not to come in

Then he needs to ask. Every place is different.

The same as here:

The specifics will depend on his employment contact

LynxGiftsetAndSocks · 03/01/2022 22:14

employers decide who is a contact now?

not heard that before

It’s nothing new - list of people entering a location, staff rosters etc

I hadn’t heard that before either, I thought it was up to track and trace to contact people. Maybe employer just being extra careful. He didn’t go in today as per their advice and has now had a positive lateral flow test and been for a pcr, so maybe just as well. Track and trace seem to be taking ages to get in touch with contacts.

I know that if he was in England it would be test and trace who tell him to isolate, not his employer.

My employer has sent close contacts home but if it’s their decision, not t & t it’s always on full pay.
