Hey everyone! Just after a bit of an offload really, been a long isolating 3 weeks and I need to moan to someone to keep the happy face up at home. DC1 tested positive 11th December followed a few days later by DC2. They missed their last week of school (primary) and all the fun stuff that comes with that. There was Christmas dinner, seeing Santa, choosing presents for others, Christmas movies, activities etc and they missed the lot. We also had breakfast with Santa booked for the weekend after term ended which needed to be cancelled. It’s been slowly through our household ending with me testing positive on 27th December. Day 6 yesterday and day 7 today lateral flows are still positive. I have no symptoms, only had a runny nose and some sneezing start of last week and positive lft followed up with positive pcr. DCs had a temperature and shivers for 2 days each back mid December so by now are climbing the walls! No family locally, and small baby too means limited time away from each other. DH is negative and takes the kids out a bit but he’s working long hours and needs to wind down too. Tomorrow is the last day of the school holidays and I so hoped I’d be able to do one thing with them, but it’s not to be. I know lots of people have it so much worse but this is draining. They’re wonderful kids and they’ve barely moaned but they had to write about their holidays and basically said they hadn’t done anything! I’m just so fed up today and I’ve had a guts full of the whole situation!

I can only imagine how you are feeling, all the lead up to Christmas wasted and having to cancel things must be very hard on you all.

Same here, ours didn't start until dec 19th but have spent the whole holidays isolating. My 2 kids are wonderful and haven't complained once but I cant help feeling really sad about it. Trying to think of treat days when we are feeling better!

Well it’s over with now and you can confidently take them out and about.

Book an afternoon this week and do something fun instead of school! No harm done.

I’m fecked off too. Isolation with covid from 23rd Dec through to 2nd Jan. Made worse by one of us isolating with covid throughout October half term. So we haven’t actually had a holiday or family break outside the house since August

How awful for you. Must seem like a massive waste of time. You must treat yourselves to a big day out now.
