Developing long covid months after having it?

ratussbaguss · 02/01/2022 22:57

I had covid a year ago and recovered, although perhaps felt generally more fatigued afterwards than previously. However over the course of the year I have developed all sorts of problems such as daily palpitations, on/off dizziness/nausea, headaches, fatigue etc. It's got to the point where it's quite disabling.

I can't be sure if the vaccines have contributed but I certainly felt very unwell and dizzy after each one. I'm being checked out for any obvious causes but nothing found yet.

Anyone else had similar?

Try Suzy Bolt Yoga for Covid recovery lots of advice and help for long Covid through infection and vaccine

Agree re Suzy bolt Facebook group. And yes your symptoms do sound like LC. The first jab definitely made my LC worse. Massive relapse and now on b blockers. Saying that I’m not unusual sadly…..

Thanks everyone for the suggestions

@ratussbaguss How are you doing now ratuss? I have similar. I had covid in Feb this year and after horrendous few months, finally think this is what I have. Palpitations, nightmares, sweats, fatigue, brain fog. Dreadful. Hope it's improving for you.

anfieldgal · 04/07/2022 12:07

meant to say, I had mild omicron in February, recovered after 2 days. My symptoms came on 2/3 weeks later plus GI issues.

ratussbaguss · 04/07/2022 12:56

Hi @anfieldgal that's so strange you posted because I'm now under a second lot of investigations. I was put on iron supplements which seemed to resolve most of my symptoms for a while but then I caught omicron in March and although I felt ok afterwards now I am back with the same symptoms, plus more GI. I'm waiting for more tests and I am terribly anxious it's something like cancer. In all honesty I'd almost be pleased if it was long covid at this point but I don't say that lightly. I'm sorry you're still unwell. Do you feel they've tested you for other stuff?

Hi, yes, have had 2 x US & CT scan, bloods and other tests, so far nothing has shown up. The GP gave me an AD as I'm so anxious from it all which has helped. My first symptom was GI bloating and feeling full and then lost quite a lot of weight in a short time plus feeling like I couldn't calm down which, since then then has progressed to quite severe anxiety. I feel things are now going in the right direction but still feel quite unwell and awful sleeping with nightmares/palpitations. Some of these are common with LC from what I've read so GP has sent a form today to see if they will refer me. The health anxiety is the worst, I sympathise but try not to worry or google too much. Easier said than done I know!

ratussbaguss · 04/07/2022 16:41

I'm sorry to hear you're feeling rotten. Good nothing has shown up, in a way. I'm honestly so scared, I have constant stomach pain and I'm sure it's something bad. The anxiety is terrible, the waiting between appointments is awful. Maybe I'll have to get some ADs too.

Hi @ratussbaguss did you find out what was causing your symtoms? Hope you’re well now.

ratussbaguss · 23/07/2022 07:44

Nothing shown up yet 😕 which I suppose is both good and bad. It's so long waiting between appointments though. If it is long covid what am I supposed to do about it?

Hi ratuss, what does your stomach pain feel like? I've read up so much in the last few months, it's been exhausting! and my symptoms are slowly going thank god! In my case, I think the virus attacked my nervous system and GI tract (amongst lots of other symptoms) leaving me with gastritis and affecting my gut with lots of upper bloating/discomfort after food. I've been under a dietician (privately!) who got me eating again, lots of fresh fruit and well cooked veg. Pro-biotics, fish oil, Vit D, magnesium and herbal meds. Not stressing and pacing. The palpitations do go, I'm about 4.5 mths in and mine have almost gone completely. I also take melatonin to help with sleep as I had terrible insomnia which is also improving. There's so much we don't know about LC, the NHS has been hopeless so the dietician has been invaluable. Lots of LC groups on FB have helped. I'm usually extremely active, my daughter has a severe learning disability but this virus (or whatever it's been . .) has completely floored me since March! but is easing now thankfully tc x

More likely the covid jab!! But your conditioned to believe its "long covid"

anfieldgal · 24/07/2022 07:03

Vaccine injured and long covid symptoms are pretty much the same from what I have read.
