PCR when returning from abroad

Has anyone recently returned from abroad and done the ‘day 2’ PCR test? If so did anyone check for your result? The last time I had one it didn’t arrive until day 7 so we never bothered to do it and nobody checked! We just did NHS lateral flows on day 2. This time of course the rule has changed and you need to isolate until you have a negative PCR result. I am not trying to get out of it, I need the code to put on the passenger locator form. But I will be really pissed off if the test takes days to arrive.

Get it done at a drive thru. Got our results in ~12 hours, 3 days ago

We had our day 2 pcr tests delivered before we left for holiday, why are yours taking so long to arrive?

Don’t you need the code from the day 2 test for your return firm ?

Can you not book a slot in person rather than get a postal one? And it can be done the day you arrive home and up to day 2

Yea you need a code for your passenger locator form so you need to book it before returning home. Haven’t booked it in advance as am not sure of return date yet. Wanted to go for a postal one as they are cheaper and in a single mum travelling with kids. Our local in person ones are all £75 plus but postal are around £20.

I booked Randox for DD1, just before Christmas - i put it in the collection box at 3pm, and got the result by 10am next day.

We booked express tests. Got the swabs taken in arrivals around six pm and results around midnight.

We waited 6.5 days after posting for our last postal onevto arrive. In contrast the ones we used a drop box for arrived the next morning.

Since you are supposed to isolate for up to 14 days while awaiting results.... (which is stupid since you can now be free on day 7 with a positive result if you get a negative LFT!)

We did a drop in collection box Randox test on the 23rd Dec and the results came back 8 hours later. We were nervous about Christmas postage so was worth the drive to drop it off (we actually did click and collect so had picked it up from somewhere else earlier that morning).

I've done Randox tests twice. Put it in the drop box by 4pm and the resukts are emailed back by 07.30 next morning

Whatever you do DO NOT use Chronomics. We did for day 2 tests after coming back from Mexico a few weeks ago. They were terrible. It took nearly a week to get them back and it was impossible to get through to them. Customer service non-existent. Avoid!!

I’m not sure if they are checked or not but travelled last week and needed the reference for the passenger locator form and airport check in double checked it too. It’s linked to passport number so maybe it ties up somewhere in the background???

We used randox and like others have said, took it to drop box on way back from airport just before the collection time and had the result the next morning so our isolating was barely 18 hours

I wouldn’t use the post ones, when I looked into it was clear could easily stretch to 5-6 days

I agree re chronomics I booked antigen for our sons to bring with them whilst visiting us in Canada for Christmas, they did not turn up, I’m trying to get a refund but not having much luck.

We did Randox, dropped off and the results came in overnight.
