guidelines if parents are isolationg

School starts on 4th and both me and my hubby are sick as hell with bad chest infections due to covid and on antibiotic's .We are both in separate rooms isolating and hardly able to manage ourself with high temp .We have kept our child in his room and mainting as much distance from him .I hear that if child is negative he has to go to school .I have no family her and ofcourse frds will not be physical touching my son due to covid risk.
what should I do ?

How old is your child? If your child is old enough to be kept in their room away from you I assume they're a teenager and can get themselves to school?

If they're younger than that I'd call the school for advice.

No he is just 6 .He cant walk to school al alone and the reason to keep him away was not having him reinfected again

How long have you been isolating?

I would call the school (are they in for an Inset day on Tues?)

Could you ask friends to walk him up to school? They won't need to physically touch him to walk him to school.

Sure school would prefer you to keep him home while he is highly likely to be risk of infecting others at school. They're not allowed to tell you that but most will authorise absence in this case

Wtf are you isolating from a child for? A 6 year old? Ds is 8. Dh tested positive on 22nd December and we decided as a family it was ridiculous to try and isolate from.each other as a family. Its borderline child abuse.

I'm confused. You and your DH both have covid yet are isolating in separate rooms? Why? And you are keeping your 6yr on in his bedroom??? Confused

because he has recovered from very bad covid recently and docs told me that for another 1 week he should not again get re infected or have any other chest infection .He is alone but having a lot of zoom calls from family and frds to keep him company .he is fine !

Honestly I think school is the least of your worries. If you're not able to sufficiently care for him can someone else have him at their house until you're able to provide adequate care?

If this isn't possible I would do anything to get him to school next week- ask everyone you know. He needs contact with others, not zoom.

What would you do if he fell and hurt himself? Who is cooking his meals and how is he getting them? Do you all use the same bathroom?

So you, DH and DS all had covid, but you're all isolating in seperate rooms from each other, even though you all already caught it from each other?! That makes no sense at all Confused

For crying out loud,the op said 6 years old not 6 months🙄 unless all you mumsnetters are living in some sort of huge mansion, I think he will be fine. And yes the guidelines for Covid parents is to isolate so well done op. She is isolating in her room not another state!!! I'm sure her boy can still talk to his parents,I'm sure he is warm and fed and delighted to be getting to watch as much tv as he wants. I'm
Sure the child has heard of Covid before now and realised that his parents are protecting him and not neglecting him.
Really no need for the overdramatics.

Thank you @douliket .I really appreciate your support .Yes , I havent locked up my child or myself in room .We are isolating we keep minimun physical touch , wear masks talk to my boy .Ask him to come down for breakfast , lunch and dinner .Sanitize everything again and again just to prevent him getting re infected .We love our boy and all this is done for his best interest .He is high risk for asthma so his covid was very bad and so docs told us to do as much as we can we prevent re infection . We keep and eye on him every other hour !

You must be a very unlucky family if both of you have a chest infection following covid. I haven't heard of anyone needing antibiotics (apart from those hospitalised after being in ICU). How long ago did your son have covid? Did you get it from him as if so reinfection doesn't seem likely.

yes , we got it from him .He was positive just a week ago .
