Feverish without a temp?

I am feeling pretty rough a few days on from a positive result. I've felt okay generally with the odd sporadic symptoms.

I seem to be getting chills and lots sweating in the afternoons with no temperature whatsoever.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Other symptoms I've had have been intermittent sore throat and headaches, dull earache and a weird thing going on with my tongue! I only ever seem to get symptoms in the afternoon as well! I'm fine I'm the mornings and later in the evenings. Very odd!

Well, I’m the world expert on weird immune symptoms - I have a rare fever syndrome.

I’ve had, in the eight days since my DH tested positive - mouth ulcers, dry mouth, fever spikes (up and down in 30 minutes), sweating and chills without fever, intermittent sore throat, occasional tickly throat, a ‘scorched’ feeling in the windpipe, chest pain, dry and gooey eyes, sinus headache, my ‘normal’ immune headache (at the back of the head), joint pains in my toes, muscle pain (various places, inc. shoulders, back and calves), brain fog, swollen stiff fingers, rapid heartrate, nausea, sneezing, runny nose and general malaise.

So… take your pick! Anything goes with this virus.

It does seem to get worse in the early afternoon - for me, it’s when I’m most tired.

Yes. My temperature tends to be on the low side (max 36.8) but that has not stopped me getting some evil sweats and shivers. Mostly at night but it has happened during the day too, and I have checked my temp, which stayed normal. The one time my temperature spiked a bit I actually felt totally fine. Only caught the spike by accident as I happened to be passing the table the thermometer was on and fancied checking - when to my amazement it was 37.5 which it has never been in all the time I have taken measurements. After an hour it went to 37.2 (which is high for me) and then after another hour or so it went back to normal.

Star27 · 01/01/2022 19:54

Yes I’ve been hot and cold for days with no fever!

MargaretThursday · 01/01/2022 19:56

I think I read night sweats were often a sign with Omicron.

Mrsbclinton · 01/01/2022 19:57

I had chills & sweats when I had covid & the highest reading was 37.1. It seemed strange as I felt very feverish.

Lifeisnteasy · 01/01/2022 20:03

This is me at the moment! I’m currently on a weekend away so not sure what to do. Been feeling ‘off’ since yesterday but this evening I’ve come on with aches & sore throat. Not sure what to do, I’ve no LFTs and I’m miles from home.

KCee30 · 01/01/2022 20:08

When me and dp had covid we both felt shivery, then hot, then cold again, then hot again but temperature was normal. I think it's normal to feel feverish but not actually have a high temperature.

delightly · 01/01/2022 20:20

Hmm, it sounds like it's part and parcel then! Very strange.

Re LFTs, I've not had a positive one yet! Haven't bothered the past couple of days now the rest of the household have managed to get a PCR booked.

@Londonwriter that sounds rough!

What was your symptom with your tongue? I had a really weird burning sensation on each side of my tongue Confused

delightly · 01/01/2022 20:27

That is so weird! That's what I had! It was so bizarre. Haven't had it in a couple of days but it was like a burning feeling and as if the bumps were razor sharp.

fruitpastille · 01/01/2022 20:30

Yes I've had the feverish feeling plus headache. I did get one reading of 39.7 but the rest normal. I thought I was being perimenopausal before I tested! Lack of appetite/ dodgy stomach as well. However all of the above have been pretty mild. My fitbit shows that my heart rate is higher than usual. Many hours in the fat burning zone even though the most energetic thing I've done is clean the bathroom.

maa32 · 01/01/2022 20:31

This is me but negative lft, my symptoms mirror yours

Oh thank goodness at least it wasn’t just me! It hasn’t happened me since yesterday but it was the weirdest sensation and freaked me right out!
CocktailNapkin · 01/01/2022 20:38

I had this for a few days along with a headache, then one day of horrid full body aches and a spiked a huge fever of 39.4 with chills. Felt fine the next day until about 4pm and spiked another fever only a little lower at 38.2, but no chills. Lingering bit of cough for a week only when exerting. Two negative lft and a negative pcr when I was able to get one two days later. For various reasons I know this was also not the flu so.... Who knows.

I'd really like to take an antibody test to see if I've been infected at some point.

delightly · 01/01/2022 21:35

@Cantthinkofausername2022 Yes, it freaked me out too, have never experienced it before.

My symptoms have been mild but unusual, I haven't felt some of them before!
