Are Universities likely to be going back as normal?

Just wondering what the MN view is on this. Have heard nothing mentioned about it in the media.

Won’t know until the last minute—just has been the case for universities throughout the pandemic

My uni was planning to go back 100% to on campus teaching with no social distancing next semester, but there are plans in place to move online if necessary. But my uni (in Scotland) has been far more conservative than some universities. We’ve had a mix of online and on campus teaching in semester one, but some uni’s have been 100% in person.

My bet is that universities will decide what to do individually. I don’t think we’ll have them moving online en masse. I think my uni will continue with a mix of online and on campus teaching, possibly with some social distancing brought back.

They have all been waiting for a government announcement or updated guidance. That hasn't been released as yet!

I think it will be a hybrid mode, masks for all inperson stuff, very frequent testing (if you can get hold of any).

We just don't know yet. We've not been told anything and we usually don't get much notice anyway!

Before my university closed for Christmas we were told to prepare to move online should government guidance advise this. We'll continue to teach on campus as long as we're allowed to.
My worry is that we'll be told to return to social distancing and mask wearing in classrooms. It's really difficult to teach socially distanced and with everyone wearing masks - I hated it and it wasn't a great experience for the students.

Thanks for these replies. I hope Universities get told something soon and everyone finds out what is happening!

We were told before Christmas to take home anything we might need for working/teaching online. But I don’t expect to find out the plan for a couple of weeks.
