Honestly this is horrendous. Please tell me I'm not alone. All I keep seeing is how people find covid is mostly a mild cold, why has this affected me so badly?
Early 30s, fit and healthy. Not had a day off sick for 3 years. Double jabbed (pfeizer). Booster should have been this week.

Started coughing Monday. Positive result Tuesday.

Have barely been out of bed since. My symptoms are as follows...
Temperature usually around 38.3
Hacking cough
Bringing up green mucus intermittently
Really blocked nose (taking sudafed spray)
Absolutely intense headache, from cheekbones to the back of my eyes, round the back of my head
Ear ache
No taste or smell
No appetite
No energy to even go for a wee
Mouth ulcers
Sore nipples (what the hell)

Extremely tearful!

Every night I tell myself tomorrow will be a better day and I seem to just feel worse and worse. I'm taking as much paracetamol and ibuprofen as I'm able to.

😔

Oh, I remember the very tearful bit of having covid. It’s such a weird virus. I think that’s why it’s not really like a cold, it’s so unpredictable about how it will affect you.

In terms of timeline, it is still early days. When you start to get better it’s slow progress, so just be aware of that and try to let your body get the rest you need. Flowers

Sounds like its your sinuses?
Make sure you are drinking enough.
I generally find inhaling olbas oil helps rather than sudafed stuff.

Have you got pcos?

OP sounds like you’ve got a secondary infection - sinusitis - on top of Covid. I’d ring the GP and get some antibiotics. I recently had it after the flu - it’s awful! I’ve got Covid now and nowhere near as bad as sinusitis.

RickyZooom · 01/01/2022 12:35

Also - the best remedy I found when poorly like you was Beechams “All in One” capsules and a saline sinus rinse. Sudafed did nothing for me, infact it made me feel worse!

Stop taking Ibuprofen

I'm a day or 2 ahead of you and yesterday morning I felt like you. Like it was never ending.

Today I have turned a corner and don't want to speak too soon but think I'm on the mend.

Things that helped me yesterday were getting a nasal decongestant spray - I live alone so got this delivered via Deliveroo and it was a godsend! Also regularly steaming my head for as long as I could and drinking lots of water and peppermint green tea (not really eaten since Xmas day)

Hopefully today will be your last day of feeling rotten. I am never unwell and keep reading of people getting it and having no symptoms or just a mild cough or sore throat for a day and it has really been getting me down that I felt so terrible and was starting to feel pathetic. But I think it's just different strains hitting people differently.

Hope you're ok x
