Good chance it's not Covid?

Struggling to book PCR but will do one.

But in the meantime, would you say the chances of this being Covid are pretty good?

Saw family on boxing Day and now a few of us are/were ill with cold symptoms but no sore throat or cough.

All of us did LFTs before meeting and all of us have done LFTs since becoming ill 3 days ago as we couldn't get PCRs all of which have been negative so not just a one off neg test, it's been 5 of us me, DH, my parents and our son, all with the same symptoms and all with neg LFTs. Symptoms now tailing off and all feeling much better.

Would we even qualify for a PCR test now our symtpoms are basically gone?

Do a lateral flow test and swab the throat as well as nose. Apparently Omicron is more likely to be detected in the throat. DH has a slight sniffle and an itchy throat - tested positive on lateral flow last night and got a pcr booked this morning.

We have done both nasal and throat and both were negative. I read that thread as well yesterday so checked!

It is impossible for anyone to say, sorry! It is unfortunate that the decision was made to all meet up despite people being 'ill'. I honestly thought covid would have changed thinking on this. There are PCR tests available in all areas now as far as I can see but only you can decide whether you qualify for one when ticking the boxes. You shouldn't be relying just on LFTs if you have actual covid symptoms though. I am a bit unclear though on whether any of you actually have symptoms.

You have symptoms so you do need a PCR. Appreciate these are hard to come by. New slots are released around 5pm. Keep trying

Ormicron is ridiculously contagious. Has anyone else tested positive on PCR? If so, highly likely. If not, perhaps it's a cold.

DirtyDancing · 01/01/2022 09:19

Oh sorry I miss read DH did test positive. Then yes you'll all have covid with some certainty!

No one was ill when we met up. We have since developed a cold like illness none of the official symtpoms and my DH has not tested positive. No one has tested positive in our situation (yet). We did LFTS before meeting up and all were negative.

The Zoe app estimates 85% of ‘colds’ are in fact Omicron right now.

Cookerhood · 01/01/2022 11:44

The official symptoms are irrelevant now and have been for some time. I've no idea why the don't update them.
