Evening all

I've received a notification through the covid app, telling me I need to self isolate as I've been in close contact with someone who has tested positive. Fine.

But. I had both vaccines early this year. I had my 3rd / booster 10 days ago.

According to everything I've read, I'm classed as fully vaccinated because of the first 2 jabs - surely?
"If you are a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, you do not need to self-isolate if you are fully vaccinated. Your second dose needs to have been at least 2 weeks (14 days) ago, and with an approved vaccine. Fully vaccinated does not include booster vaccinations."

Any advice welcome as this is stopping me going into work!

Daily lateral flows. You don’t need to isolate. Delete the app.

From gov.uk
If you have had close contact with someone who has COVID-19 you are at higher risk of becoming infected yourself.
If you have been vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine, you are less likely to become severely ill if you catch COVID-19. You are also less likely to spread COVID-19 to other people, but it is still possible for this to happen.
If you are not legally required to self-isolate as a contact, you are strongly advised to take a rapid LFD test every day for 7 days or until 10 days since your last contact with the person who tested positive for COVID-19 if this is earlier. LFD tests are very good at identifying people who have high levels of coronavirus and are most likely to pass on infection to others, even if you do not have symptoms. If any of these test results are positive, you should self-isolate immediately and order a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testt_.

I had this, two weeks ago. The app me to input basic details (essentially whether I was double vaccinated and if the last vaccine was more than 14 days ago), then told me I didn't need to isolate and recommended LFTs for 7-days. It gave me the option of booking a PCR too. You don't need to self-isolate.

Anawi · 30/12/2021 23:17

Nah you're all good. If you're vaccinated and have no symptoms and in England you dont need to isolate, bit daily LFTs for 7 days are recommended.

All the messaging linked to track and trace nd the app I have found very muddled, contradictory and often out of date! I received and email this morning saying my daughter is a contact for a positive case (me!) But doesnt need to isolate. But she is the one I caught it from and tested positive on christmas day sooooo yes, yes she does! I realise that's different but as a family of 5 we have had so many message this week saying we're contacts and do/dont need to isolate in various combinations! Makes me cross that they make it so needlessly complicated.

Update the app and/or uninstall and reinstall and it should ask your vaccination status

3catsandcounting · 31/12/2021 09:54

I've currently got Covid, as has my adult DD (living at home) I deleted the app many months ago but have received a text from T&T this morning stating both of us have been in contact with a positive case and we need to isolate!! Ironic!

My name is spelt wrong on the text, and we haven't been in contact with anyone at all for more than a week. The current guidance is contact over the past 48 hours.

My only guess is that it's a friend/associate who has my mobile number (and can't spell my name correctly!) 😏

3catsandcounting · 31/12/2021 09:56

Meant to add, we're both triple-jabbed.

BiscuitLover3678 · 31/12/2021 09:57

I had this but it then immediately told me not to as I’m double jabbed. Odd it hasn’t said that to you! I’d do as everyone else says unless you want to isolate from work, in which case perfect timing ;)

Vbree · 31/12/2021 10:01

You don't need to isolate if you're fully vaccinated.

eurochick · 31/12/2021 10:38

If you click on the link in the message and fill in details to indicate you are fully vaccinated you get another message telling you you don't need to isolate but should test daily for seven days instead.

hamstersarse · 31/12/2021 10:41

None of the track and trace messages have been updated either

You don’t have to isolate unless you have symptoms

Waxonwaxoff0 · 31/12/2021 10:45

Delete the app. It hasn't been updated. Don't use it any more.

Mamamamasaurus · 31/12/2021 15:03

Thanks very much. I've updated the app but it still tells me to self isolate for 7 days

I won't be deleting it as I suspect I'll need something to be able to show my employer and I can take screen grabs from the app

I'm awaiting the results of a PCR now so I should be clearer once the results are back

Waxonwaxoff0 · 31/12/2021 15:09

But you don't need to isolate though. You can go into work.
