Genuine question about whether I "need to be vaccinated

To be clear I am booked in for my 4th attempt at being vaccinated I'm just curious!

I've booked my vaccine three times. And every single time I've had to cancel because I've had covid!

The first time my NHS expartner brought it home, second time I don't know where I got it from and the third time was in November. Tested positive the morning I was to be vaccinated.

So I have rebooked my vaccination however there was nowhere local for the dates I chose - it wanted me to go to Croydon when I'm in Yorkshire. So waited and waited and now have managed to get a local 1st Jab, but 2nd one in Croydon (wtf)

The third time I had covid I felt absolutely rotten, the first time two times it wasn't so bad.

Fully intend on making my 4th attempt successful, I'm just wondering does three bouts of covid = some form of immunity similar to being vaccinated? I've read a mix of things.

To be clear...I am going to be vaccinated but I wondered if other people who've had it have thought, well no need to get vaccinated now

Youe probably get a boost from having had it so often I'd imagine! But yeah I'd get a vaccine as there's no way you want it again after that you poor thing!

PurpleDaisies · 30/12/2021 22:03

It’s very, very unlucky not to have been able to get a first vaccine if you wanted one. Covid three times must be some sort of record.

I would do whatever I could to try not to catch it. Get the vaccine.

I think it’s not clear. Somewhere, I think Germany, they’re counting infection as a dose of vaccine, so only giving one dose of the vaccine to people who have had Covid. There’s also a theory that omicron outcomes are better because of delta exposure.

TreborBore · 30/12/2021 22:22

Poor you! If you've had it three times, it suggests that for the first two times were not enough to give you protective immunity. I would have at least one dose of vaccine and see how you go.

Roadtripconcept · 30/12/2021 22:25

If my immune system was crappy enough to catch Covid three times , I'd definitely be getting my jabs .

Flaxmeadow · 30/12/2021 22:50

Yes you would be better having the vaccine

MelissaRainbow · 31/12/2021 09:58

I’d go for your first jab definitely, then try cancelling and rebooking the second one nearer the time or going to a walk in centre

Msloverlover · 31/12/2021 10:32

I’ve had it once last year and then had 3 jabs. Got it again now and it feels exactly the same! They didn’t make any difference to my experience of it. I wouldn’t bother.

FWIW catching covid 3 times is down to bad luck not a shit immune system.
