No sense of smell and crushing fatigue with Omnicron?

Really pissed off to find I have Covid again exactly 2 years after the first dose when I was quite ill. I've been jabbed.

I've tested positive and I've been feeling rough since Boxing night. Symptoms are tickly cough, sneezing, congestion/runny nose, body aches and fatigue. These symptoms sound like Omnicron but I've also lost my sense of smell completely and taste is about 70% gone.

The first time I was ill in Jan 2020 I lost taste and smell for 3 weeks but also had the other symptoms of constant coughing, fever etc. I'm grateful that this time I'm not anywhere near as ill as I was then. However, the loss of my senses again is worrying me.

This is my fourth day at home and the aches and sneezing have subsided but the fatigue is crushing. I thought Omnicron was supposed to be like a mild cold?

Sorry you feel so rough. My daughter has covid again after having it 12 weeks ago. I assume she has Omicron this time as she obviously has little immunity. She’s felt really ill with a high fever, nasty headache, and horrendous fatigue. Her first ‘Delta’ covid bout was like a cold and she wasn’t ill at all really.
I don’t think loss of smell is ruled out for Omicron, it’s just less common. And some people still get quite poorly obviously. Also Delta is still around so it’s possible you have that.
Hope you feel better soon!!

Yeah, well it is for done people - my niece was one of them.

Others - my son and nephew- needed a couple of days in bed.

Some people need hospitalisation.

I know as many people who felt like shit for a few days as I do people who had a "mild cold" but I do know both.

I've lost my sense of taste and smell with Omicron. Really annoying as I also lost it twice with the super cold, which infected me in two different waves in October and November

Omicron (we assume) is synonymous with fatigue in my family. Younger cousins have been in bed a good week with it, my mum included.

I have had two very positive lateral flows and I'm currently awaiting PCR results. I am tentative, but I feel okay. DH too. Considering he's ECV, I hope it's mild for us.
