Negative on lateral flows and now positive again :(

I got two negative tests yesterday and this morning, completely flash-on photograph negative. Day 6 and 7. Feel great. Went to the shops today.

Was due to go and see family tonight and just thought I’d do another test and as bit nervous to be in close proximity to people after just having Covid and it’s bright positive. Bright. My positive tests for the last few days have been very very faint. I’m so confused. I guess I have to isolate again now - do I disregard the negatives I’ve had?! Do I test again?! I’m gutted. Missed Christmas and now it looks like New Years down the drain too.

This happened to me this morning two.
Had symptoms same as DH, both had positive lateral flows so did PCR
Christmas Eve his PCR came back positive, mine negative
Christmas Day I do another PCR which comes back negative again. All my lateral flows are still positive
27th positive lateral flow (faint)
28th extremely faint
29th negative even with flash
Today the darkest positive I've had yet
I've had another PCR and am back in isolation

Depressing.

It’s so rubbish :( I had positive pcr last week, symptoms started very late Wednesday night so classed Thursday as day 0, so today would be my day 7. Have hardly been able to see my positives too for days they’ve been so faint. Have no idea what to do now, hardly think I’ve been reinfected as not seen anyone to reinfect me! Urgh :(

That is confusing, but to be fair if you've had a positive pcr you need to isolate for 10 days anyway so shouldn't be going out...

KL92xxxx · 30/12/2021 16:18

Not in England, negative on day 6 and 7 means you can go out on day 7, and I got two negatives hence going out today.

Ah I didn't see that! I had negatives from day 4 but isolated for the full 10 days 🙈

I think getting negatives on both days 6 and 7 is really rare - I would stay in for the rest of your 10 days but even if you're testing positive after that you're ok to go out as the chances of you being infectious to others are very slim

Previously we had all been told not to lft after having covid as it can show positive for a little while and now we are being told we should be negative by day 6. Yet once you get to day 10 it doesn't matter if the lft is still positive. This isn't an exact science it seems. I definitely wouldn't go for another pcr, it would very likely still be positive and just complicate things. I thought that even with the testing negative on day 7 you were supposed to be extra cautious, avoid crowded places, vulnerable people etc just incase?

Lots of my friends have tested negative on day 6 and 7, I suppose I’m just thrown off at now bright the positive is too, it’s like last weeks test again. I will wait again until I have two fully negative tests again or until my 10 days are up whichever is sooner. Just very odd and rubbish missing a lot of family time as my parent and little boy are both negative so able to get out.

Yes I literally went into the shop for some bread and I was only seeing one family member tonight but as we were going to be in her house I wanted to double check hence the extra test. I understand testing positive for a while it just seems odd that I’ve been ‘almost’ negative for days and days and fully negative for two days and now back to square one according to the test I’ve just done. fed up
