I work in ICU and we need to get a pcr when you come into contact with someone who has Covid. And then daily tests for 10 days or until I tested positive
So
22 DH sick
23 DH positive on a pcr. I go for a pcr and it's negative
24 DH really sick myLF NEG
25 DH sick MY LF NEG I started having a sore throat in the morning
26 DH in bed all day I was hungover but MY LF NEG

27 tiny irritating cough negative LF went for PCR just in case because I don't want to take out the rest of my team if it's Covid *
28 * LFT AND PCR IS POSITIVE

Here is where DH and I differ. He thinks that because my sore throat started on the 25th, even though my Lateral flows were negative I should be able to come out of isolation at the weekend if I get 2 clear tests tomorrow and the day after whereas I think that it's ages until I can do my day 6&7 tests because even though I had a sore throat for days before I tested positive they were very resolutely negative unless I got the cough and then they were extremely positive

DH didn't believe the first one I took had 2 lines Hmm

So when can I tell work I can go back to work? I think it's the 6th he thinks it's the 1st

When can I leave isolation?

Ask work

Work will go from the date of the test which is the 27th regardless

From when your symptoms started so I would say when you first had your sore throat

llm24 · 30/12/2021 14:49

I worked for test and protect in Scotland and we would go with 27th

A sore throat is not one of the symptoms we look for
If you had a cough/ fever or loss or change to taste or smell on the 25th we would
then go with that date

@llm24 see that's what i thought. The cough started on the 27, and that's when I tested Positive on everything. Oh well I'm stuck inside for a bit longer then. Work won't be happy but I can't help it. Ironic isn't it? I work in full ppe for months with Covid patients, don't catch it, DH catches it from a client at court and gives it to me immediately.

It is shit though I'm glad I've been vaccinated because I can't get my temp below 39 even with paracetamol

27 is day 0, on day 6 and day 7 if you have negative LFT then you can go out on day 8 but there are still restrictions on what you can do until day 10 including avoiding busy places and vulnerable people.
