How did you feel after the booster? I've been putting it off because I'm scared but I know to travel again I'm going to have to get it done

OP posts:
maddy68 · 29/12/2021 22:34

I had az and felt lousy. Subsequent ones absolutely no reaction whatsoever not even a sore arm X

mariebaby3 · 29/12/2021 22:35

I was really unwell after my 2nd but had my Moderna booster yesterday afternoon and I’ve only really had mild side effects so far…. Sore arm, headache, a bit run down but all manageable! Really relieved tbh I was nervous like you about being really poorly again.

catchingzzzeds · 29/12/2021 22:36

@Saynotopineappleonpizza2021 I would have the booster if I were you. I was due to have mine when I caught Covid. I felt rotten after my first vaccine but nothing compared to how ill I've been with Covid. 18 days since I became ill I still feel rotten and I'm struggling to do much at all.
I thought Covid would feel like a bad cold but it has knocked me for six and I really wish I'd been able to book my booster earlier, I had been trying daily but there were no appointments available within 59 miles at the time.

Don't you have to wait 3 months?
When I had my booster they asked if I had covid in the past 3 months.

Margo34 · 29/12/2021 22:40

Moderna for jab 1 (fine) and jab 2(awful and flu like), Pfizer for booster (felt a bit 'off', a bit meh for 24hrs but nowt more than that)

catchingzzzeds · 29/12/2021 22:48

@emailaddressplease sorry I don't think I made it clear, I haven't had my booster as I caught COVID before my appointment so had to cancel it

Alicenwonderland · 29/12/2021 23:11

I had the Moderna booster after two previous different vaccines (the P one, can't spell it! 🤭)
Definitely the worse reaction of all of them, really sore, hot and throbbing arm for days. Also convinced it messed up my period as I was over a week late which is super unusual for me. I'd still get it though if I were you as Covid is everywhere at the moment and I'm sure it's better to have it than not.

bluesky45 · 29/12/2021 23:11

Had moderna for 1 and 2. Felt fine after first dose, sore arm I think. Felt awful after 2nd, sick, fever, headache etc etc.
Had Pfizer for booster, sore arm for a couple of days, otherwise absolutely fine.

hamstersarse · 29/12/2021 23:14

Palpitations aren’t great op

When did you have your second dose? I’d leave it at least 6 months

ForensicFlossy · 29/12/2021 23:29
  1. AZ - slept for most of the day and felt generally rough
  2. AZ - headache and incredibly painful upper arm
  3. Moderna - slightly sore injection site
GuidingSpirit · 29/12/2021 23:42

@Saynotopineappleonpizza2021 Please dont hold off with your booster.

I had moderna for jabs 1 and 2. Jab 1 (at 30 weeks pregnant) i had a ridiculously sore arm for 4 or 5 days. Jab 2 (at around 8 weeks post partum) and i had a fever for two days, muscle ache that was so bad i couldn't even turn myself over in bed. Felt absolutely dreadful for a good 4 or 5 days. Was breastfeeding the baby and DH was having to come in to pass her to me so i could feed and then take her back afterwards. Nightmare. I was in a study of vaccine effectiveness during pregnancy at the time so all this got reported as well.

Got the Pfizer booster two weeks ago and just a mild sore arm really and a bit tired for a day and that was it!

Saynotopineappleonpizza2021 · 30/12/2021 11:19

@GuidingSpirit if I could be sure I'd get Pfizer id go

@hamstersarse I had it early August

GuidingSpirit · 30/12/2021 11:22

@Saynotopineappleonpizza2021 our borough had details of which vacc site was offering which vaccine so i purposely booked at a site with pfizer. Could you do the same?

Sonex · 30/12/2021 11:26

I had 2 AZ then Pfiser booster.

First AZ - felt like shit for a week, tired for a week. Really felt unwell with headache and aches.

Second AZ - felt unwell for a couple of days

Pfiser booster - no symptoms at all except for mild sore arm.

AffIt · 30/12/2021 11:58

AZ for first and second, Moderna booster.

A slight fever overnight and felt a bit jet-lagged for 2-3 days with 1st AZ, very mild hungover feeling for about 24 hours with 2nd.

Moderna only a slightly tender arm at the injection site for about 24 hours.

Turtleoo · 30/12/2021 12:31

AZ for first and second, slightly tired the day after but otherwise fine. Pfizer for booster a week before Xmas. Had Covid toes the next day, but otherwise fine until a week later when I started having heart palpitations and an awful head. On day 5 and not yet getting better at all. Being investigated at the hospital but I'm really grumpy that my Xmas break has ended up with me barely able to function.

hamstersarse · 30/12/2021 12:35

It’s fine peoplr saying they sailed through with just a sore alarm, great in fact!
But op has palpitations and that’s not an insignificant side effect and should demand caution (well under normal circumstances it would!)

Sonex · 30/12/2021 12:39

Well then the OP should be speaking to a doctor an setting an ECG if they're worried, not posting on MN about it

Lots of things cause palpitations - stress, anxiety, the menopause, covid itself.

hamstersarse · 30/12/2021 13:53

@Sonex

I agree op should consult their doctor. Palpitations should be checked out

PickAChew · 30/12/2021 14:10

I felt a bit rough the next day after my moderna booster but nothing like as bad as after my first AZ dose. Got the delayed itchy arm rash that some people get but anthisan cream soothed that.
DH had a bit of a headache but that was all.
Ds1 admitted to no side effects.

Alexandra2001 · 30/12/2021 14:13

@Saynotopineappleonpizza2021

Think ill hold off the booster for a while longer, thanks all!
Please don't. Your far less likely to spread CV to vulnerable folk as a: less likely to get it and b: if you do, lower viral load.

The reactions we all got with Moderna (6 of us) were all very mild, nothing worse than a 24hr cold at worse, i felt a bit hung over.

I d advise to keep hydrated before and after and stay of booze, so perhaps consider the booster next week?

Shadowboy · 30/12/2021 14:16

I had Moderna- neck swelled on day 2, by day 3 swelling was significant. It never went and got worse after second jab. Now having the swelling surgically removed in February. One was 5cm the other 2cm and it affects my swallowing. Doctors assured me it’s not cancer and said it was odd and didn’t think it was a reaction from Moderna but a 48 time lag after the vaccine and I start to notice swellings is a coincidence! I’ve chickens out from my booster now

lynntheyresexswappers · 30/12/2021 14:18

Pfizer for first 2, moderna booster on Monday. From Tuesday onward I've felt absolutely rotten, the night sweats are horrendous. It's very hit and miss as you said, fingers crossed you will be ok x

user290814356289 · 30/12/2021 14:32

I had moderna for jags 1&2 and only had a sore arm.

user123974397375 · 30/12/2021 20:23

@Alexandra2001

I think if OP's reaction to Moderna is so strong then guilt tripping her into having booster to 'protect the vulnerable' isn't helpful.
