Different LFTs giving different results

Hi all, I know this has been done to death but I’ve had two faint positive LFT’s on the old nose and throat tests and two completely negative flowflex tests. Have sent off a home PCR today but could I hope the old tests were a dodgy batch?

And it's a total waste of tests to have done 4, just wait for the PCR result!

Old style ones are less sensitive so likely to be accurate positives. Flowflex nose only were more accurate with delta, but seem like nose only swabs are missing Omicron until days later, it seems to grown in the throat first. You are probably positive but it just hasnt shown up in your nose yet.

I’m using flowflex too and extremely faint line on 3 nose tests. Not sure if my eyes are playing tricks as I do not feel ill

Why do you need three of these? You need one positive. Then a pcr.

To check that my eyes weren’t playing tricks. It took me all day to book a pcr !

Exactly, if it’s really faint it’s hard to tell if it’s a streak or a line. Better to check and not use a PCR slot unnecessarily.

We had this. DS had a faint positive on a Flowflex and a negative on an Orient Gene (both nose only). His PCR was positive.

DH tested positive on flow flex but negative on orient gene. 3 PCRs said he’s negative but he’s still positive on flow flex 12 days later.

@Ellie1311 how dark were the positive lines on the flowflex? Mine are always really light but seem to always be there

I tested negative days 6/7 on the nose and throat ones and positive day 8 on the flowflex then because I’m a scientist did the nose and throat and was negative on it.. so that’ll be interesting on the government guidance.. people with one type of LF test will be out before the others..!

And don’t worry LFT police I know that I need not do anymore after two negatives so I won’t do anymore in the name of science…
