Covid again after 8 weeks?

Had covid 8 weeks ago, guessing delta, last couple of days have had a range of symptoms body aches, headaches, nausea, feeling tired, sore throat, LFTs have been negative but this morning there was a faint positive line, so I’ve been for a PCR, surely it won’t be positive again so quickly after having it? I guess with omicron I could’ve been reinfected?

Officially it has to be 90 days before you can be reinfected but biologically that doesn't make sense.

Omicron is quite different to delta so you may well have it again, sorry.

Unless they sequence both your PCR tests though, you will never know if it's a new infection.

I know someone who had it twice 3 months apart - Delta both times.

Unfortunately, you are just as likely to catch omicron as anyone else 😫 I know 3 people now who had covid in October at the same time as me (we all caught it from the same kids party) & they’ve been positive over Christmas again!

Lateral flows are fine to do within 90 days of previous infection. Particularly if you’ve had negative ones since your last infection. They are not sensitive enough to pick up dead virus. However PCR’s can do. But on balance you’ve had a recent positive LF, it’s pretty likely you’ve got it again 😫

Yes I’ve had negative lateral flows since my first Covid infection, the line today was really really faint, I look now and I can’t really see it, I’m hoping it’s wrong, but worried my PCR will come back positive from the first infection still! I guess at the time this morning I saw enough of a line/shadow to warrant going for a PCR. I just don’t want it again so soon lol. The people you know who have caught it again soon was their second time milder?
