Dizzy and weak

I wonder if anyone can help me. I feel so dizzy and weak. I was positive for covid about 12 days ago now. Didn’t have many symptoms apart from dizziness and some strange mental health phenomena. Today I’m feeling so bad that I’ve had to take myself to bed and leave the children in charge of the house. I’m feeling very strange. Very worried too.

Have you got a temperature at all? Infections and temperatures can make you feel delirious. Have you any relatives or friends close by to help with the children?

Cissyandflora · 28/12/2021 21:33

No temperature. I haven’t had a cold or flu symptoms. But the delirium is a bit like that. I’m hearing noises in my ears like blood pressure. I don’t have anyone to help me but I’ve called on the children to help me and check on me. The eldest is 16 and although I don’t normally ask for help I’m asking now.

It may be an inner ear virus. This is quite common post illness and has impacted alot of people after covid.
Vertigo, nausea and tinnitus often hearing loss too. Have you suffered any reduction in hearing.
Contact GP or 111 out of hours you may need steriods if hearing is compromosed. Also antisickness can help with nuasea and vertigo.

I suffer for other reasons and have tablets i can take. They usually wipe me out for 24 hrs but help alot.

CatAlice · 28/12/2021 21:44

I had horrendous dizziness and weak legs. Also the brain slowness/ fog which makesit hard to describe what the problem is. I remember saying to a doctor thatI was completely disorientated.
If you are on day 12 I think you need medical advice. Can you ring 119?

ImHavingAnOldFriendForDinner · 28/12/2021 21:46

My friend had an awful inner ear infection at the tail end of Covid and ended up with a perforated ear drum, something like that could definitely cause you to feel how you are feeling at the moment. Please don't suffer on your own give 111 a call and see what they can suggest, they may be able to give you an out of hours appointment or if not get on the phone to your gp first thing tomorrow but if I were you I'd try to talk to someone tonight. Wishing you better soon.

Covid can cause dizziness. It also increases histamine levels in your body which can cause dizziness. Get some travel sickness tablets like stugeron or phernegan. They are a type of antihistamine which stops dizziness and associated nausea. Also try not to eat high histamine foods for a while like smoked, cured or processed meats and fish, aged cheeses, shellfish, fermented food or old leftovers. Hope you feel better soon.

Cissyandflora · 28/12/2021 21:49

But I don’t have any pain. I just know I’m not normal. Cant make sense really. No pains. But I hear rushing in ears. I’m better now I’m in bed but very dizzy earlier.

I had vertigo caused by labyrinthitis and vestibular neuritis due to Covid plus tinnitus which is hearing noises not caused by an outside source. It could be this, if the dizziness doesn't improve get a GP appointment. I was prescribed a sedating antihistamine which helped in the early days, then eventually had vestibular rehab via ENT.

Covidworries · 28/12/2021 22:06

Often vertigo and tinnitus caused by ear issues has no ear pain

Cissyandflora · 28/12/2021 22:10

Thank you. I’m just lying down in bed and hopefully better tomorrow.
All very odd.
The covid with no symptoms i could recognise yet just being unwell in a weird way. I’m getting flashbacks of my life. It’s been very strange.

DickMabutt73962 · 28/12/2021 22:35

Try this OP. I had an awful virus that resulted in odd light headedness, also got a prescription, but this helped.

Flaxmeadow · 28/12/2021 22:49

Maybe you could ring the NHS helpline and speak to someone professional OP.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

I have just had 3 months of unexplained dizziness after my first vaccine. I would 100% seek advice from a medical professional before attempting any sort of movements as suggested above - they can make things so much worse if the issue isn’t what they are used to treat. It could be labyrinthitis, vertigo, ear infection etc or just due to the covid. Motion sickness tablets can help. Hope you feel better soon.

Cissyandflora · 28/12/2021 23:29

Thank you. I have no energy to call 111 or to do the ex cerise in the video. But thank you and I’ll try tomorrow. My children are checking on me. I’m having whole life flashbacks it’s very odd

My friend was actually taken to hospital because she felt that bad and they eventually diagnosed vertigo and they said it was highly likely due to her having covid.
Please don't suffer alone op, my friend is absolutely fine now but she did get a lot of support to help her through it. It can really be really debilitating

Sallydimebar · 28/12/2021 23:35

Infections quite common after covid my DS still had temp on day 10 was diagnosed with ear infection and put on antibiotics. Gp said infection riding of covid . Hope you feel better soon

Puddletown · 28/12/2021 23:39

Honestly I think you should call 111 - this is probably very scary for your children and a big responsibility for them through the night

When I had Covid it caused a secondary ear infection.

I felt nauseous, dizzy and had swooshing and popping noises in my ears. It wiped me out and I still don't really know what part of my illness was down to Covid and what was ear infection. It was day 10 or 11 that my ears became really bad so a similar stage to where you are now.

I phoned my GP and was prescribed antibiotics. They helped a lot and after a week of antibiotics I felt much better.

Do you have an out of hours GP you can call? Or phone 111. I think you really need to speak to someone sooner rather than later.

wanttomarryamillionaire · 28/12/2021 23:59

My friend tested positive yesterday and she said exactly the same, keeps going light headed and dizzy.

junebirthdaygirl · 29/12/2021 00:04

I was dizzy and desperately weak with Covid and for a good while after. I also had ongoing issues with my ears which l never experienced before. Also my anxiety levels were soaring . GP said our whole body goes into fight or flight to counteract the infection..its horrible.
Please do seek help tonight as it will help you rest and hopefully tomorrow you will feel better.

Cissyandflora · 29/12/2021 00:10

Yes it’s lightheaded and dizziness. Not really other covid symptoms. All very very strange. I don’t drink alcohol but I’ve been talking as if I’m intoxicated not slurring but just saying things that sound odd. I phoned 111 the guy was mumbleing and I couldn’t understand him. But he said I should call my doctor at 8am tomorrow. I don’t think I have urgent need for dr but it’s all very strange.
