How long to show?

My partner tested positive on Monday morning LFT. I live with someone highly vulnerable and therefore have isolated in my bedroom since yesterday morning. I tested negative yesterday on LFT and today, I’m going for a PCR tomorrow and planned to isolate until I had results of this which will probably be Thursday/Friday. If PCR comes back clear and LFT Thursday and Friday are also clear would you assume I’m Covid free? I’ve heard people saying the LFT are not that accurate and I’m panicking as to when it will be “safe” to be out again, I’m double vaccinated not yet had booster. Guess my questions are has anyone managed to be in close contact with someone who have Covid and not contract it, or if you did how long it took to show? And also is it too soon to take a PCR tomorrow?

DS1 tested positive 6 days after DS2. My DH and I are testing negative so far. Good luck 🤞🏻

It took 4 days for me to get a positive LFT result after confirmed exposure. I'd been self-isolating and testing daily until that point. I only took a PCR test after the positive LFT.

My husband tested positive on 10 December. My second child had two negative pcr tests and a couple of negative lateral flows before getting a fever and positive lateral flow on 23 December. Her pcr on 24 December was negative but lateral flow was still positive today. Make of that what you will.

I hope you stay negative, good luck

My stepmom had Covid this time last year, my dad & stepbrother lived in the house & didn’t bother isolating away from her & neither of them contracted it.

Thanks all! I guess it’s a little bit of a lottery then! I’ll continue to self isolate in my room until PCR done tomorrow and results back and do LFT’s every day until Monday. I know I don’t have to be technically isolating at the moment but as I’m Living with High risk brother I don’t know want to take any chances as I feel there’s a good chance I will be positive given the close contact with confirmed case.

I have it now and my partner and our toddler haven’t got it and I haven’t isolated from them, in fact we share a bed each night!

I worked last year in a residential home where most of the residents had covid. I did personal care and was up close and personal and never caught covid even tho I cared for them on 12 hour shifts in basic ppe.

Thanks all! Just hoping to stay negative as not to have passed it on to vulnerable brother

Ah sorry to hear that op, I hope your brother manages to stay covid free. Would you be able to go and stay with your partner if they live nearby and if you drive? I am sure that one journey would be acceptable if it protects your vulnerable brother.

Hey, thank you.

I’ve been isolating in my room and using a separate bathroom so hoping it’s enough to avoid it!
