Hand hold - booster today seriously considering cancelling due to previous reaction

Some may have seen my last post where I went to get my booster on 18th December but got told I could not have it as when I was asked if I had any reactions to previous Pfizer I said that I had palpitations of about 110 for a day (my resting heart rate is around 80-90 and been checked by cardiology as fine and normal sinus rhythm just fast). When I mentioned the palpitations she said she could not vaccinate as sounds like it was myocarditis

Anyway a few said speak to GP who did not know so I rang two different clinical lead at two different vaccine sites who said they would be happy to vaccinate as some palpitations without other symptoms such as chest pain etc would not be enough to advise against vaccination.

I am really nervous and totally considering not getting it after all the second opinions on it that I got.

Covid itself might well be far worse for your heart.

Jabinderarm · 28/12/2021 11:55

@backonceagain79 feels unfair that we have to take this to travel.. alot of my family live in the US and Australia ... I haven't seen them since this started

emmabombemmauk · 28/12/2021 11:56

Gosh I have been really put off reading them all 🙈🙈 I really do not want to go now

Jabinderarm · 28/12/2021 11:57

@borntobequiet I had covid in March 2020 and was fine .. wasn't bad at all. Had a temp for two nights thats it. Sometimes I wish I hadn't bothered with the jabs 😢

emmabombemmauk · 28/12/2021 11:57

@borntobequiet this is a concern and one of my reasons to get it

OP posts:
Jabinderarm · 28/12/2021 11:58

I feel like it's coercion to live a normal life therefore unfair.

frazzledali · 28/12/2021 12:09

Some really pathetic bad faith posting here. Don't fall for it. Get your booster.

Jabinderarm · 28/12/2021 12:13

Didn't realise Boris had joined the conversation. We are only concerned. The bad faith is coming from you!

You're encouraging someone to get a booster despite them having a particularly worrisome reaction previously. Why?
RachC2021 · 28/12/2021 12:17

@Jabinderarm

My friend at works Dad has lost his sight in his eye after the second Pfizer. Had a clot in his eye .. been 4 weeks and now is having injections in his eye but sight not coming back .. he is a mechanic so may not be able to work
I have a family member who randomly got a clot in his eye ~10 years ago. It happens. It sucks, but it happens. (And his sight didn’t improve.) Just because the vaccines have a tiny risk of causing clots doesn’t mean they caused it. Could have happened anyway, like with my family member.
Jabinderarm · 28/12/2021 12:20

@RachC2021 I agree but I was 2 days after so you can't say it wasn't either I suppose .. does anyone know of any others with issues after any of the jabs??

Blubells · 28/12/2021 12:22

The boosters are all vaccines developed to target the original Alpha (?) variant, not the current omicron variant

I'd like to see some evidence of the booster's benefits - a comparison of unvaccinated people, double jabbed and triple jabbed people getting omicron.

There might be benefits of getting omicron instead of the booster? Longer lasting immunity? Immunity against Delta?

Wow, what happened to critical thinking? A bit of scepticism? Especially given previous reactions!

My previously well controlled atrial fibrillation kicked off badly after a brush with Covid and I had to have my heart stopped and restarted with a cardioversion.

howley1 · 28/12/2021 12:24

110 for one day, following being checked out by cardiology and signed off as fine - I'd definitely be getting the booster if I was you

Sonex · 28/12/2021 12:27

My 17ybold is getting his booster today, on his birthday! as his dad has a lung condition which would not go well with covid. He's not hesitating.

Blubells · 28/12/2021 12:28

Op, are you older/vulnerable? If not I personally wouldn't get a third jab right now.

Jabinderarm · 28/12/2021 12:28

I just don't understand how and why I need to keep getting boosters.. If omicron isn't that bad then surely it would be better if I just wait. I just think I'm
In a perpetual cycle of boosters and worrying about the ill affects each time I have to have one is mentally difficult for me

howley1 · 28/12/2021 12:30

@Jabinderarm because whilst is is milder in general, a lot of people will still end up needing hospital treatment because of it.. and you don't know whether that will be you or not.

Jabinderarm · 28/12/2021 12:36

@howley1 I get that but I have had it 18months ago the alpha variant and was fine. I'm not having my kid vaccinated .. never. I'm
Not risking their lives for my own health or concerns. It's not right. I am
Going to think about the booster over the next few weeks and see what happens regarding this mild variant. As I'm not planning to go on holiday I do not have to rush .. hopefully I will start to feel better soon generally

Yes, my mum, after her second jab started being short of breath. Myocarditis. Drs are insistent that it wasn't jab related, but she started having problems straight after the jab, while previously she's been absolutely fine. She is not getting a booster, although, before she was all for vaccines and couldn't wait to get her 2nd dose.

I wouldn’t take the opinions of anonymous posters on mumsnet ahead of the two second opinions you got from the people you actually spoke to.

But if you don’t want it then don’t get it 🤷🏻‍♀️ It’s not up to anyone else to do the risk assessment for you.

emmabombemmauk · 28/12/2021 12:46

@RobinPenguins I understand that but sometimes on these threads you come across others who experienced the same with some positive experiences. I will go to the jab centre and speak to them again.

howley1 · 28/12/2021 12:47

@Jabinderarm previous reaction to a different variant is somewhat irrelevant to your future response.

fine to not get your children vaccinated as long as you are aware that you are consciously choosing the more risky option for them, rather than the safer one.
