Hand hold - booster today seriously considering cancelling due to previous reaction

Some may have seen my last post where I went to get my booster on 18th December but got told I could not have it as when I was asked if I had any reactions to previous Pfizer I said that I had palpitations of about 110 for a day (my resting heart rate is around 80-90 and been checked by cardiology as fine and normal sinus rhythm just fast). When I mentioned the palpitations she said she could not vaccinate as sounds like it was myocarditis

Anyway a few said speak to GP who did not know so I rang two different clinical lead at two different vaccine sites who said they would be happy to vaccinate as some palpitations without other symptoms such as chest pain etc would not be enough to advise against vaccination.

I am really nervous and totally considering not getting it after all the second opinions on it that I got.

Yes I am nervous too as bad reaction

I am doing it for one reason and one alone….

To avoid scenario that by not having the booster means I can’t travel or do other things in the event they make full vaccine status a requirement

emmabombemmauk · 28/12/2021 11:23

@oftenbaffled when is yours and what reaction did you have?

Early Jan (specifically after festive period)

Horrific vomiting
Hospitalised

HumunaHey · 28/12/2021 11:28

If that's how I'd reacted, I personally would not get anymore.

oftenbaffled · 28/12/2021 11:29

But I a,m 100% going to have the booster nonetheless

I will focus on fact that I did get over it eventually AND I will be able to travel freely

Nothingventurednothinggained · 28/12/2021 11:32

Are you able to contact Public Health for their opinion?

Jabinderarm · 28/12/2021 11:35

Is travelling more important than life and freedom.

Onegingerhead · 28/12/2021 11:37

only my opinion as a person who had horrific reaction to the second jab. I don’t think I ll have a booster but if I were to have it, I d prefer hospitals been less busy than now… jan? Feb?
Basically, I m not concerned about covid but very much worried about booster side effects should I need hospital treatment

I regard travel as a fundamental part of freedom
Jabinderarm · 28/12/2021 11:38

Seems like we will need 5 boosters by the summer. Confused This is not right. I'm thinking it's better to wait than get so ill that I won't be able to travel even if the restrictions are no longer .. I dont want my kids to have to go through this..

oftenbaffled · 28/12/2021 11:38

And as for the risk of COVID to my life?

Minuscule!

Will have the booster for purely selfish reasons

emmabombemmauk · 28/12/2021 11:39

@Jabinderarm I have no plans to travel I wanted originally to get booster to protect others and myself

OP posts:
Jabinderarm · 28/12/2021 11:39

That's fine Atleast you admit it Smile good luck

Jabinderarm · 28/12/2021 11:40

Emma me neither

oftenbaffled · 28/12/2021 11:42

What’s your motivations for not having the booster out of interest @Jabinderarm

I think you should get it, given the two second opinions said it was ok. You also might not get Pfizer again. I had mine last night and they gave me Moderna. Feeling slightly under the weather today but that is completely normal as it's the body's immune system kicking in and revising how to fight the virus.

oftenbaffled · 28/12/2021 11:45

Out of interest
When you say “not been right”, what do you mean?

Jabinderarm · 28/12/2021 11:49

I can't explain it. I feel fatigued when before I was fine.. like healthy now sometimes I get tired when I go for a walk

TSJ19 · 28/12/2021 11:49

Hi i have had the same happen to me after the pfizer vaccine. I had my first in June and delayed my second until october as i was so worried. I was advised at the vaccination centre when i went for 2nd one not to have my booster. Im currently waiting for a scan on my heart.

Jabinderarm · 28/12/2021 11:51

@tsj that's sad, hope you are ok

zebra · 28/12/2021 11:52

If I didn't want to travel, wasn't elderly/underlying conditions, and potentially had had a reaction to a previous dose, I'd be steering well clear of the booster.

I agree. My ds is 12 next year and I really don't want him to have the vaccine and he doesn't want it. He had covid and was fine, wouldn't have knew if we didn't lateral flow but now from next year he won't be allowed to travel without the vaccine. Myself and DH are double jabbed but I'm very hesitant about having the booster.

My friend at works Dad has lost his sight in his eye after the second Pfizer. Had a clot in his eye .. been 4 weeks and now is having injections in his eye but sight not coming back .. he is a mechanic so may not be able to work
