What's wrong with me?!

I didn't know where else to put this thread so I'm sorry for the wrong topic but basically for the past 10 days I've had every covid symptom there is. Temperature, loss of taste & smell, a really bad cold, a cough, random shivers, a sore throat & these symptoms have lasted a lot longer than a normal cold etc. I've woke up this morning and just no change I just don't seem to be getting better.
But.. I've tested negative to covid for both pcr & countless laterals! (I'm isolating just incase) but anyone else in the same boat?!

Flu?

GiveMeNovocain · 28/12/2021 09:48

You've got a bug that's not covid. Like most illnesses you'll probably never know which one. It's really unusual to know what virus has actually taken hold. Stay home, take painkillers and drink lots of water. Hope you're feeling better soon

anotherboyontheway · 28/12/2021 09:51

Can totally relate, I've had this for the past 2 weeks but testing negative. I've put it down to a type of flu...feel like we've been brainswashed into worrying if any symptom could mean covid when other illness's are still common. But yes it does seem strange, I was convinced mine was covid x

Nerdygirl · 28/12/2021 09:52

Super cold - I had it 2 weeks after covid. Passed it onto both kids. It really was horrendous and worse than covid and seems to be more transmissible as we never spread covid to each other! But we don’t lock down the country for this and I am pretty sure a CV person would have really suffered with this . Madness

RunAwayNow · 28/12/2021 09:59

Super cold here too. I never get ill, colds usually bounce off me. But I've had this thing for 2 weeks and no sign of getting any better. I've also had multiple negative PCRs and LFTs. I feel absolutely rotten. Agree with a pp that this would probably make a vulnerable person quite poorly.

I was ill for over a week before I got my positive PCR, my son had COVID so I was convinced I had it too. I tested positive on my 3rd PCR on my worst day, around day 8-9 of symptoms.

Cookerhood · 28/12/2021 10:08

DS is the same, really ill & not getting any better - negative on PCR & lateral flow. Has just sent off another PCR. The family member with Covid has had a bit of a fever & that's it.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 28/12/2021 10:11

I’ve just read that with the new tests where you just swab your nose you really need to swab throat as well.

mumofEandE · 28/12/2021 10:15

I had exactly the same a few weeks ago - all the symptoms of Covid but numerous negative LFTs and a negative PCR!
It started with a scratchy throat and then sore throat / cough / headache/ aches / cold / tiredness/ nausea
I did a PCR when my sense of taste /smell went
I was surprised that it was negative but at work (secondary school) there were a lot of people with Covid at the time aswell as ones with this 'super cold'
The runny nose/sneezing were the last symptoms to go - I have never had a cold last this long!

Whitefire · 28/12/2021 10:17

I'm just having one awful thing rolling into another. This one I think is the "I am always ill when I go on annual leave -itis."

firef1y · 28/12/2021 10:22

Sounds like you have the fabulous cold that's doing the rounds. Mine lasted 7 (yes you read that right) weeks, I'd start feeling better then go downhill again. Did countless pcr and lft all negative.

TinyLittlePandaSneeze · 28/12/2021 10:23

Ha! We've had that. It followed "why did I get my covid jab just before the last few busy days at work" itus
MatildaIThink · 28/12/2021 10:24

There are more respiratory viruses than just Covid, so you have one of the many that aren't Covid, not really rocket science.

Yes I get this but I have literally never been this ill in my life. Every day I wake up and I'm not even a tiny bit better and it's been nearly 10 days so just thought I'd see if anyone was in the same boat. I've never had a virus last this long or know of one that does

Thank you everyone! Sounds like just this super cold then! I'm going to book another PCR just to be sure

Hope everyone else feels better! Because this is truly shit isn't it 😢😢

I’d book another PCR. Friend’s son had array of symptoms, including horrendous cough that appeared from nowhere. Complained of feeling very unwell, despite being an extremely fit 17 year old. PCR and LFTs all negative; were done on immediate onset of symptoms.
Became so unwell in a short space of time that he had to be reviewed by a GP, who said definitely won’t be Covid as PCR was negative and that it was a really bad cold and chest infection.
Went and got another PCR on way home from GP as he just wasn’t convinced, due to lots of friends having Covid. Second PCR came back positive.
He actually became very unwell subsequently and took many weeks to recover.
Don’t know if this is a thing with teenagers because a colleague, his wife and one teenage DC tested positive. Second teenage DD had all the symptoms much worse than the others in the house but tested negative. Other three positive (all fully vaccinated) cases recovered well within three days but the “negative” DD (one vaccine) was very unwell for a fortnight. They now wish they’d repeated the PCR because they’re not convinced.
I hope you feel well again soonFlowers

ChipButtyCurrySauce · 28/12/2021 11:12

I've had it for 2 weeks! Numerous lateral tests and a pcr, all negative. I've not been ill since start of lockdown, probably helped by social distancing, extra sanitising, masks etc so I suppose immunity is low. It's hit me harder than a 'normal' cold usually does.

ivfbabymomma1 · 28/12/2021 13:06

@Lupinhere37 that's awful! I hope they have all recovered now!! Rather me than my son any day! & thank you

@ChipButtyCurrySauce that's exactly the same for me!! I hope you feel better soon! I have slightly good days that give me hope but then the next sag it's a total crash again 😣

I’m ill too, negative LFTs and PCR done yesterday came back negative. I have conjunctivitis as well so feeling really fed up. I have a compromised immune system and I’m always hit hard by colds unfortunately.

RickyZooom · 28/12/2021 13:31

It’s the SUPERCOLD! I had it two weeks ago - the sickest I’ve been in years. I ended it on antibiotics from the dr as it turned bacterial.
I’ve got Covid now and so far it’s nowhere near as bad.
