Hi

Yesterday we spent time - same room for 2 hours- with someone who last night tested positive on an LFT.

DS2 had Covid end of Oct.

The rest of us had it end of Nov.

Neither DH or I have had boosters (due to having to wait the 28 days) - DH is going for his today, I'm next week. DS1 (18) needs his second jab (again delayed due to Covid) and DS2 needs his first as he missed his school jab due to having Covid! So we're all a bit behind.

Both boys booked in for when they are allowed the vaccine.

What happens now? Do we test daily still (as close contacts) even though LFT's aren't meant to be used for 90 days? What happens if one of them is positive? Do we treat that as positive IYSWIM?

Sorry for the daft questions that I should know the answer to Blush. This is the first time we've been in this position! DS1 has had Covid before but it was just before the introduction of LFT's

Thanks!

You can use LFTs. It is PCR tests that you shouldn't use for 90 days.

LTF will show negatives from 6-10 days for most people after covid. If you get a positive LTF then it’s a new infection. The PCR can pick it up up to 90 days so they ask you don’t test unless you have new symptoms.

So if we test positive on a daily LFT we are to assume it's positive and isolate as usual but not follow up with a PCR?

Brilliant, thank you!
