Delayed PCR results

Anyone else waiting on results from a PCR from yesterday still? We did ours about 12pm but still nothing. Got a strong lateral flow positive yesterday but today super faint. I have a mild cold. Got my little boy a PCR too yesterday as he has a cold too but he’s been negative on all lateral flows.

Isolating for now, assume I’ll be positive but I think my little boy will be negative he’s bouncing off the walls being stuck in the house! His dad is negative too with zero symptoms so if boy is they can get out and go for walks which will really help break up the days whilst I’m isolating.

I took a PCR yesterday at 1pm and nothing back yet. DSS had one last Thursday and still no result. I just want to know. I don’t feel I’ll but got a faint line on two LFTs yesterday too. Hope you’re ok.

I'm guessing significantly less people will be working in the labs processing the tests over Christmas.

Covidclaire · 26/12/2021 20:24

They’re taking much longer than that at the moment. Posted Wednesday, didn’t get result back until this morning. Even with postal tests previously it’s only been 48 hours from post box to results.

Lemons1571 · 26/12/2021 20:27

Did my test in a test centre on the morning of Christmas Eve. Result 6am Boxing Day. So 43 hours.

tocas · 26/12/2021 20:29

Did ours 23rd and still waiting. Nhs website says wait 6 days before chasing via 119.

llm24 · 26/12/2021 20:30

Done our tests 1330 on 22nd results back for me and my daughter 2230 on 24th
Hubbie tested same date got his back that night and my son the next day
We were told
up to 72hrs

georgiams · 26/12/2021 20:36

My postal from Wednesday has taken 104 hours only just come back positive!

FireandBrimstone · 26/12/2021 20:39

I think there's a lot more testing going on > a lot more PCRs as a result. Our recent PCRs (in the last few days) took about 36hrs to get results which under the circumstances (when they say results between 12hrs and 3 days) I thought was pretty speedy.

KL92xxxx · 26/12/2021 20:48

Ah yes I guess it’s not really been that long it’s just compared to other times we’ve tested and had results within 12 hours

I had a pcr at a drive in last week. Previous occasions I've had the result within 12 hours. Last week I was told it could take up to 6 days (I got it in 36 hours btw).

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 26/12/2021 20:57

My dds had a PCR test on Tuesday 19th. I chased xmas eve. The results came back today at 5.40pm.

So many people are testing due to high transmission, lots of colds and many who wanted to check before they see relatives over Christmas period

Ipdipdo · 26/12/2021 21:02

Visited a walk in Xmas day at 1pm and results back Boxing Day 7am!

Puddletown · 26/12/2021 21:02

Postal pcr sent on Thursday results this morning. Drive through pcr 10am Christmas Eve results 6am Christmas Day. London

Breathmiller · 26/12/2021 21:58

Walk in centre at 12 noon on the 23rd. Still not had it back.

Christmas with family is on hold until it comes back. Mine was a close contact from last Sunday so I could be out of isolation period on the 28th before I get my results back.

Someone I know got tested 24th and back today, positive. Do you think there is any truth as per another poster on another thread that negatives are taking longer?

I have no symptoms, negative LFTs and had covid in October.

LalalalalalaLand123 · 26/12/2021 21:59

Lateral flow positive Thu, PCR test received by post Fri, picked up by courier Sat (xmas day!), result received Sun eve (negative, thankfully) here (London)

DrunkenKoala · 26/12/2021 22:01

My DD to a test on 23rd, it took 48 hrs to come back.

Groovee · 26/12/2021 22:05
