2/4 in the family positive. Why are the current chances of not catching it?

DD started symptoms 19th, positive LFT then confirmed by PCR 22nd Dec So we are on day 7. DH positive yesterday (day 6)

What are the chances me and DS will continue to be negative and can end our isolation on Wed. We are in Scotland so 10 days isolation.

I know previously with Delta it was quite common for it to miss out family members but just wondering what people’s recent experiences are.

I'd like to know this too OP! Our DD also started with symptoms on the 19th. DH and me so far symptom free and negative on the LFTs. We're both triple vaccinated but I can't quite believe we've dodged it.

Did your DH develop symptoms or just get a positive LFT?

Kaffiene · 26/12/2021 20:49

He got symptoms on the evening on 24th, positive LFT & PCR on 25th. We are both triple vac & DD double. She is only 13 but CV

I had a stinking cold but negative LFTs through Dec, am hoping I was maybe the original spreader and that I won’t come down with it on Tue.

I’d really like to know too. DH got a positive LFT first thing on the 23/12. Since then we’ve tried to isolate him from the rest of us. Daily LFTs are still showing negative. Got everything crossed we can avoid it. PCR for all of us sent off today.

DrunkenUnicorn · 26/12/2021 20:51

Oh and he had symptoms- like a bad hangover the morning he tested, but flu like symptoms by the afternoon. No cough. Awful headache, sore throat, temperature and back ache. He’s now just got a sore throat and intermittent back pain.

WeRTheOnesWeHaveBeenWaitingFor · 26/12/2021 20:53

DS is positive- 6days later we are all still negative. When DD had it a year ago non of us got it then either.

Kaffiene · 26/12/2021 21:07

Oh encouraging stories! We may be able to dodge it after all!!

I didn't get it.

SergeiL · 26/12/2021 21:08

I tested positive on DH day 10 and on DD day 16. We didn’t really isolate anyone although me and DH slept separately and used different bathrooms where possible. He ate in a separate area of the kitchen. I think we might have slacked off and stopped worrying around day 7/8… good luck

RagzReturnedUnwrapped · 26/12/2021 21:11

DS1 had it end of November. DS2 had it last week, we think separate infections due to the time lag and DS2 got it from a school friend. Odd, as they share a room and we expected DS2 to catch it from DS1 within a few days.
DD hasn't had a single vaccine but hasn't caught it, DH had 2 and I've had 3 and neither have we. We haven't really isolated them apart from not eating dinner at the table. DS2 was sat on the sofa a few feet from DH for several hours a day all through his infectious period...

RoRoYoYo · 26/12/2021 21:18

DH and DD had it before Christmas. DS and I escaped it.

MissingGrandstand · 26/12/2021 21:54

I’m currently the only person in my household that has it, live with 4 other adults and although I kept to myself as much as possible on days 1 and 2 I’ve still been sharing a room with DH! My positives on LFTs are immediate and really strong (Christmas Eve I got a test line before the liquid had even reached the control section of the test Grin) and been confirmed by PCR, but everyone else still firmly negative.

Will probably get flamed for this but my household said they would rather risk all isolating than me having to sit in my room alone on Christmas Day so I haven’t been separate from them since Christmas Eve and all still negative, so there is hope!

Pickledlipstick · 26/12/2021 22:05

Lately everyone I know which includes us who has had a case it has got the whole house! Maybe it’s omicron though which is more easily spread. We didn’t isolate anyone though

Groovee · 26/12/2021 22:08

5 of us in the house. Dd tested positive on Christmas Day from her work test. We booked tests and 2/4 are positive. Isolation until the 4th of Jan as in Scotland too.

Lovelydovey · 26/12/2021 22:10

DS2 (unvaccinated) is on day 8 - mild sniffles. Dh and I (triple vaxxed), and DS1 (single bad) are all still testing negative…

SergeiL · 26/12/2021 22:15

Based on my experience, do your LFTs if you have a case in the household. We all thought I was going to escape it. As I said, I tested positive 10 days after the last person did.

Pucarbuile · 26/12/2021 22:18

Watching this with interest. I started feeling off late on 23rd, negative lft that morning. Went for a pcr on 24th got a positive result today. Dh and 2 dc also did lfts on 23rd, all negative. Dh lft this evening (after I got my positive notification) was positive so he's got a pcr appointment tomorrow. Kids still negative on lft this evening. I'm pretty sure I got it from a friend on Monday although dh has now said he has had a couch on and off for a couple of weeks Confused. Either way, the dc have been fully around us since I was exposed on Monday so I wonder when we can have a sense of if they've dodged it.

MyCatHatesPCRTests · 26/12/2021 22:51

Pending PCRs as we’re feeling rough….

DC2 had symptoms on 16/12. Positive PCR on 17/12. DC1 and I tested negative on 19/12. DH and I have had negative daily lateral flows. All three of us who haven’t had Covid currently have sore throats so waiting for second round of PCRs to come back. But otherwise it’s day 10 here so think we may have escaped.

DC2 is a toddler so no distancing possible. Adults both vaxxed but not sufficiently post-booster to consider it would have protected us.

TheGodWorm · 26/12/2021 22:55

DS aged 11 tested positive by lft and pcr on 19th. DH and I are still testing neg so far. We haven't isolated from each other at all. We're triple vaccinated.

MajesticWhine · 26/12/2021 23:03

I started getting ill on 23rd and tested positive that day. My 4 other family members are still ok, no symptoms and negative lateral flows. Have spent all the time with them. I'm keeping a mask on when I'm not eating or drinking (or playing charades) but no serious attempt to isolate. We are all triple vaxed except my youngest. So it will be interesting to see if they manage to stay covid free.

SergeiL · 26/12/2021 23:29

To add to my post, I am bolstered but didn’t escape it.

Lancs84 · 27/12/2021 09:36

My husband tested positive Monday 13th. Took our children for precautionary PCR 17th and my son tested positive. I tested positive on the 23rd. Daughter yet to test positive. I am triple vaxed and thought had escaped it but sadly not.

FantasticCrete · 27/12/2021 09:48

Ds1 tested positive on 21st, the rest of us are still negative. I had hoped we had escaped it but reading @Lancs84's messages, it's still wait and see. At this point, I wouldn't mind if the rest of us caught it, dh and I are boosted and ds2 had 1st vaccine.
