Testing positive straight after “SUPERCOLD” finishes

I’ve just finished a round of antibiotics for a monster virus doing the rounds. I took two PCR’s over the last two weeks and numerous LFT, all negative. I’ve had a bit of an annoying tickly cough the past week but nothing unusual for a post-viral cough.
However, randomly, I think I’ve now tested positive on a LFT! I feel the best I have done for the past two weeks. Could this just be a delayed positive from what I thought was the “supercold”? Or is this likely to be a dose of a new virus - Covid? (Lucky me!)

I had a non covid virus and then tested positive for covid as he as recovering from the first one! So two back to back.

I had done 3 pcrs and multiple lft's when with first virus and all negative, symptoms subsided then got a positive then covid symptoms started. The first virus was worse then covid.

It did make sense for me. The kids had just had a non covid virus which I must of caught off them. Then Dp caught covid at work so we all caught that too.. total nightmare!

@KA30 I think that’s exactly what happened to me. I only did a LFT as my little one had a temperature and it’s really hard to get any sort of accurate swab from him. Was shocked to see the extra line! Have a PCR booked for tomorrow. Such crap luck - the last virus was a really horrible one! Hopefully Covid isn’t as bad Confused

I also had a non - covid illness then tested positive for covid quickly after. I assume I was more susceptible because I was already laid low.

I had a horrible cold for days and days, tested negative, negative, negative... the cold went and my LTF was positive a day or two later. Positive PCR, feel completely fine 🤷‍♀️ I don't know whether some of it can be covid symptoms but you don't have a high enough viral load initially to show up on the tests? Super weird.

RickyZooom · 26/12/2021 20:24

It’s so weird! I had every Covid symptom but not one negative test. The minute I’m better I test positive. Let’s see what the PCR says I guess.

This exact thing has just happened to my dad

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 26/12/2021 20:49

Were the antibiotics prescribed? Because you wouldn't be on those for a virus.

RickyZooom · 26/12/2021 21:10

@UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername they were. Viral then bacterial, was not pleasant.

This happened to me. Had an awful cold for weeks… negative LFT’s and PCR’s. Gradually started to feel better. On the day I started to feel human again, I took an LFT as I was due to visit my grandma… positive. Next day came down with covid symptoms.

flowerycurtain · 26/12/2021 21:17

This was me. Cold from hell. Lots of negative LFD and PCr.

Starting to feel human again for the first time in weeks and bam - two lines on the LFd. No symptoms apart from feeling v tired and not being able to drink without feeling rough over Xmas. Day 7 today.

NauseousNancy · 26/12/2021 21:19

This happened to my daughter. Every covid symptom - horrible cough, raging temp, taste definitely not right. Two negative PCR tests. She got better, and then her sister was tested as a contact and was positive. The PCR for my daughter as a contact of her was then positive. Neither had any symptoms.

We joke that catching covid made her better, she was really poorly before she caught it!

DS2 had a really nasty bout of tonsillitis in October, tested positive for covid a couple of days after he felt better and returned to school. He had a headache one evening and a blocked nose for two days, then felt completely fine which was when the positive PCR result came back.

DS1 had a nasty virus that caused a high temp and cough, home schooled while waiting for PCR but negative. Returned to school on the Friday and tested positive on an LFT the following Wednesday, was completely asymptomatic.

Elzbells · 26/12/2021 21:40

Yes me, DH had Covid last week, I was just as ill, cold symptoms etc but didn't understand why my PCR and lfts were negative.

On Friday as he finally tested negative I woke up feeling absolutely shocking - hot and cold chills, the worst sore throat - thought I had tonsillitis. Nope - huge pink positive on lft. It hasn't been like a cold for me - this is the first time i've had Covid and it's like a nasty flu.

RickyZooom · 27/12/2021 20:57

Positive PCR.. ffs!! Feels so unfair!! Oh well, at least I’m well stocked with cold & flu remedies, sinus rinses etc. Hope it’s not as severe as the SUPERCOLD!
