I will put my neck on line and say that covid will be over by 27th of March 2022.

I think we'll say we've had enough, yes. No vaccination? Take your chances

BringBackThinEyebrows · 26/12/2021 22:51

@MaryAndHerNet

Covid won't ever be ever, it'll just become accepted, like Flu, common cold, anal leakage etc.
😳
Cherryblossoms85 · 26/12/2021 22:51

Nah. There'll always be a politician who needs to distract from their own incompetence. And some pharma money to make and some Netflix movies to make money.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 26/12/2021 22:54

Bet a new "deadly strain" is discovered on the 26th.

vickyc90 · 26/12/2021 22:55

I think February half term time maybe later as the doubling time seems to be dropping. If he holds his nerve over new year I could see us being over the worst of it by late January.

Defiantly think Easter will be the next freedom day with almost all if not all restrictions lifted for the vaccinated.

Imagine like flu the new variant will arise in the Southern Hemisphere over the UKs summer and restrictions will be back for the unvaccinated and vulnerable come next winter.

MorkandMandy · 26/12/2021 22:58

Is it luck or is this just how viruses evolve? Dead hosts aren’t great for perpetuation so super-spreaders that maintain mobility makes the most sense - enter Omicron. I imagine the common cold started off with the same/ greater severity.

I think you're slightly batshit. Grin

But I PRAY you're right!

I think it will be more like late summer when it's properly over though. March is a bit soon I think!

Porfre · 26/12/2021 23:02

I think it is over.
It's much milder now.
We've just got to learn to live with it now.

YesIcan3 · 26/12/2021 23:03

And next weeks lotto numbers are????

Lesina · 26/12/2021 23:03

Why not St Patricks Day. 17th March… much more likely.

MyrtlethePurpleTurtle · 26/12/2021 23:03

ANAL LEAKAGE??!!
Howareyouflower · 26/12/2021 23:04

@milly74

it will never be over as it is a controlling mechanism - our rights, civil liberties and freedoms can be snatched away using covid laws and to "protect the NHS" ad infinitum
I bet you voted Brexit as well. You're welcome to your "Civil Liberties" I'll take a bit of a loss of freedom in exchange for avoiding Covid, or passing it on to my vulnerable husband.

A deadly strain featuring anal leakage Shock
YesIcan3 · 26/12/2021 23:07

@DockOTheBay

23rd would be nice - 2 years anniversary of lockdown and my daughters 2nd birthday
Mine too Smile
Benjispruce5 · 26/12/2021 23:11

Aha is it the same Covid that doesn’t enter school gates?

RhubarbCustardy · 26/12/2021 23:13

No way. There's already reports of a major surge predicted for February.Sad

echt · 26/12/2021 23:18

So a government that has been negligent and dilatory in all its responses to the pandemic is after snatching civil liberties under the guise of controlling Covid Hmm

Try these:

Limiting voting

www.theguardian.com/politics/2021/jul/04/millions-in-uk-face-disenfranchisement-under-voter-id-plans

Limiting public demonstrations:

committees.parliament.uk/committee/93/human-rights-joint-committee/news/156037/government-plans-to-change-law-to-restrict-demonstrations-breach-human-right-to-protest-says-jchr/

Removing British citizenship:

www.theguardian.com/politics/2021/nov/17/new-bill-quietly-gives-powers-to-remove-british-citizenship-without-notice

Reduced funding for schools in deprived areas:

These are real things happening now.

Wait, what now?
AlmostAJillSandwich · 26/12/2021 23:23

I'll pass on the anal leakage if thats okay

Blinkingbatshit · 26/12/2021 23:25

🤣🤣🤣. Would love it to be, wish you were sane. Would be so happy if the worst was over and we could move on🤞🤞.

KloppsTeeth · 26/12/2021 23:25

Anal leakage is the next wave. That’s why people stocked up on toilet roll. They had the wisdom to know it was going to happen, but of course it was delayed until 2022, the year of the poo.

Livelovebehappy · 26/12/2021 23:25

@tiredanddangerous

Nah. We've got at least another 2 years of this shit yet. Maybe 3.
and this comment followed the anal leakage one....... 😂
MsAgnesDiPesto · 26/12/2021 23:27

No way, unless all the world is vaccinated fully by then. New variants will be cooking all over the place, some more and some less virulent than what we have.

Pandemics are global - so the solutions have to be too, especially given the ease and frequency of air travel.

Doris86 · 26/12/2021 23:30

@Porfre

Yes, as tends to happen with viruses, Covid has mutated into a milder version in the form of Omicron.

It’s time to learn to live with it, embrace Omicron as a sign we are nearing the end game, and stop panicking and shutting down the economy every time there is a new variant.
