Day 10 and still testing positive

I have had a look on the gov.uk website but I am struggling to get an answer.

Today is day 10 for me - I am still testing positive on lateral flow. I do not have a temperature.

Can I go out tomorrow?

Following. I have literally just asked this on another thread. Sorry I don’t know the answer myself. Family member has it though with no symptoms so curious as to what would happen if they still tested +ve on day 10

You can officially. But I must admit that it seems odd, especially now they have brought in the need to test negative to go out on day 7.

Under the old rules you weren't meant to test for 90 days after a positive as you can still get a positive result if the virus is hanging around. However, you weren't seen to be infectious 10 days after you first showed symptoms.
Some people do test negative during the 10 day period- DS tested negative after day 5. Under the new rules, its the same, even if you still test positive after day 10 you can leave isolation as you won't be deemed infectious.

From the other thread - I have found this

You can return to your normal routine and stop self-isolating after 10 full days if your symptoms have gone, or if the only symptoms you have are a cough or anosmia, which can last for several weeks. If you still have a high temperature after 10 days or are otherwise unwell, stay at home and seek medical advice.

Looks as if - as long as you have no major symptoms - isolation ends.

Phew!

Yes, it’s fine to go out of isolation after 10 days, you may still have the virus in your system but you won’t be contagious.

I am now on day 12 and still testing positive - albeit faintly.

I have come out of isolation though.

It’s still a little confusing as the Gov haven’t updated their list of symptoms despite Omicron showing many symptoms not included in the main three.

So if symptoms have been that of a cold including headache, blocked/runny nose, sneezing, fatigue, loss of taste and you still have all of these symptoms on day 10 and still testing positive should you continue to isolate & seek medical advice on day 11 or do these symptoms not count as they’re not a temperature? None of the symptoms make you unwell enough to not feel up to leaving the house but all still technically symptoms of your covid but not the recognised main three symptoms?

Yes. I tested positive for 12 days too but left isolation after 10 (as per the guidance)
