What’s going on?

I’ve been unwell with strep throat recently, very sore throat and swollen tonsils, chills in the day time but night sweats, headache, mucus on chest but no cough. I took a LFT and it had a very thin but dark positive line. Every line since has been the same and doesn’t look like the standard size of positive results. I am on antibiotics for my throat which have helped, but I’m concerned either this is a side affect or Covid or the test is wrong and detecting a different viral infection. Can anyone shed some light on what may be going on please? (I have been isolating regardless and spending Christmas alone)

Did you do a PCR?

PurpleDaisies · 25/12/2021 17:43

Have you done a pcr test? That’s what you need to do after a (several!) positive lfts.

Festivefi · 25/12/2021 17:45

Yes it was sent yesterday so I’m awaiting the results, I’m assuming won’t be until mid/end of next week

It sounds like you have covid. Any line is a positive test. Getting multiple false positives isn’t all that likely.

My sister got results sent today

Festivefi · 25/12/2021 18:00

Thanks for replies, hopefully I will get my results tomorrow then. I just haven’t seen a single photo of a test with a line like mine, they all seem to be the same thickness as the main line when I’ve looked them up. Does anyone know if tonsils are commonly affected as part of the sore throat symptom? If they were swollen due to Covid I am surprised the antibiotics have worked in reducing the swelling.

Doesn't matter how thin your line is, a line is a line. My dd had throat symptoms with covid.

I had horrendous tonsilitis when I had covid.

It is possible to get cross match with a different virus but not common. We had this with someone earlier this year. Multiple PCRs all negative
