Really weird period after booster

faithfulbird20 · 24/12/2021 11:21

So my period came 7 days early and the next day after having my booster. Period was only 2.5 days and then nothing. Am I right to be concerned? Obviously this has messed my cycle up as we're trying to have a baby etc etc

Every woman I've spoken to has had at least one wonky period after receiving a Covid vaccination. Seems it's a normal part of the immune response, just that vaccinators/doctors are not expressly warning women to expect it.

Fully expecting this for this cycle as had shonky AF after my 1st & 2nd doses. It did right itself for the next cycle though ❤️

Telling women that this is normal feels like gaslighting to me. There was no problem with AZ and blood clots, until then there was. There was no problem with Pfizer and heart damage, until then there was. What is normal about having a vaccination in order to give you antibodies to a respiratory virus that then makes you bleed and clot excessively from your uterus? Do we think that men would be accepting of this if it was coming out of their penises? Women need to wake up and start asking more questions.

After my first two vaccines my periods went awry. One lasted for three weeks!
I had the booster last week and now I am having the worst period ever. It’s like being a teenager again with the pain, the heaviness and the clots. I haven’t had a period like this since before DC, and that would be 16 years ago.

Thievesoil · 24/12/2021 23:40

I also agree about the gaslighting

My friend is flooding months later and is told it’s a coincidence

Mykittensmittens · 24/12/2021 23:42

Mine is wonky too. I am 28 days very regularly. Had my booster day 10. Ovulation has disappeared/delayed and am now on day 22 with no sign of it so period is also going to be delayed. Most odd!

I have a mirena coil. No period for 2/3 years and then had my booster....24 hrs later absolute agony, to the point I thought I might need medical help, but it passed and a really heavy period started, only for a couple.of days...and that was that.

I didnt link it with the booster, I thought it might be peri-menopause but then a friend, a few weeks later, described same thing happening to her after her booster....

My periods have been awful this year, and it all started after my first vaccination. But then I'm 50 with fibroids so it's hard to tell.

But I never used to get period pain until this year, and now it's awful.

This!

Agree! I had moderna. Bled for 6 months solid despite taking 3 types of tablets to stop bleeding. Passed huge clots. Not going back for a booster. Prior to that I was on the depo and not had a period for several years.

WhatsitWiggle · 25/12/2021 00:16

I'm on HRT, have been for 2 years, periods every month lasting 3-4 days with 1st day really heavy.

Since Pfizer booster, 1st period didn't come at all and 2nd (this month) has lasted 2 days and been really light.

I don't believe it's a coincidence at all, but I'm not sure why Pfizer would have this impact when AZ didn't.

BillGigolo · 25/12/2021 00:24

I’m not looking forward to my booster for this reason. I had my second AZ just before it was stopped for women my age (I was 35, now 36) and as well as delaying my period and then spotting mid-month, I felt like my hormones went nuts. My breasts were so sore, 3/4 of each month and the ovulation pain was crazy. I was taking pregnancy tests because it felt so much like early pregnancy. Things went back to normal after 5 months. I expect I’ll be getting Moderna for the booster but I really don’t want to go through that again, so fingers crossed. I’m young, I’m healthy and pretty fit, I’ve already had Covid pre-vaccine (and it’s effects were way less problematic than the vaccine) - all of that makes me feel so reluctant, but I will get it. I can’t (or maybe can, sadly) believe the dismissive attitude to women reporting menstrual issues when it very clearly is a thing.
