Why is no one talking about the Nausea?!

Felt dodgy on Monday, negative LFT.

Had what I thought was a migraine Tuesday, couldn’t get out of bed, couldn’t open my eyes, pounding head etc - Negative LFT.

Felt slightly better Wednesday, still headache but wasn’t a bed potato. - Positive LFT.
PCR completed.

Today - bed potato again. Headache gone, but my god the nausea?! How have I never seen anyone talk about this?!
Every time I stand up my head does a little drunken spin and I fight falling over/throwing up.

Still awaiting my PCR result but already know I am the grinch that stole Christmas.

WHEN DOES THE NAUSEA END?!

Took me 3 weeks I’m afraid. On the plus side, I lost 11lb because I couldn’t face food!

Swirlywoo · 23/12/2021 18:21

I talked about it! And am also not sure why it's not listed as a common symptom. It was horrible.

domesticslattern · 23/12/2021 18:28

I am covid positive here (triple jabbed) and my only symptoms are a headache and feeling like puking.
It's very tiresome. I am not sure how much it is exacerbated by the stress and tedium from being in one room trying to avoid passing it to the family and worrying about Christmas.
It would be great if I lost weight though.... hmmm....Grin

Cuwins · 23/12/2021 18:29

In recent cases at my school vomiting has been one of the main symptoms. Along with severe headaches and tiredness.

Bizawit · 23/12/2021 18:30

Currently have Covid and I was so nauseated all day yesterday. After I was sick (a lot) I felt much better. It was quite alarming- glad to know I’m not the only one!!

JS87 · 23/12/2021 18:31

Try travel sickness tablets. Sounds like your nausea could be associated with the dizziness and migraine. Works really well for dizziness and associated nausea

gulliblestravels · 23/12/2021 18:33

My daughter has had it since late September. Sometimes better, sometimes worse.
Nausea, fatigue, headache.

LynetteScavo · 23/12/2021 18:34

DS had Covid back at the beginning of the summer, and he threw up and had a ranging temp in the middle of the night - I hadn't heard if anyone else being sick. It only lasted one night.

Oh yes. Had it a while ago but I seriously didn't really worry about the breathing problems (that did not last as long), because the nausea took up my full attention - with something I can only liken to acid reflux or heartburn, day and night, worse on attempting to lie down.

Sorry to hear this is your version. Although I could not tolerate much for a good while, I craved salt before long (plain crisps) and they did make things slightly better. Try and get small amounts of salt and sugar inside you when you can.

Ormally · 23/12/2021 18:35

And I also started with what I assumed was a migraine, so sounds a similar effect.

Bexxe · 23/12/2021 18:58

I am grateful as it could be much worse, but I have a shoulder of lamb in the fridge for Christmas that I will be devastated if I can’t face!

McDonald’s delivery on the way, the only thing I’m fancying is some cardboard fries!

I have also gone for full denial - I’m not even sick. If I ignore it - it will go away right?!

Ah yes, I remember the knawing sweaty sick feeling and dizziness well. I'd say it was at its worst on day 6-7, the only relief was sipping cool water and having a fan/cool flannel on my face.

Paracetamol helped, but sadly they were only effective (according to the paramedics called by a panicky DH when I was delirious) if I managed to choke down a mouthful of dry toast with them, which at the time was like suggesting I climb fucking Everest. This was the original variant before vaccines.

But I was back on my feet, sort of, and 13lbs lighter by day 11 and no long term effects. Hope you feel better soon OP.

ChequerBoard · 23/12/2021 19:07

I felt very similar OP and had a faint positive LFT on Tuesday evening. Had PCR Wednesday morning which has just come back negative!

Pleased but surprised, really thought I had it due to the nausea and DS being in the house who has had positive PCR but now on day 8 and his LFT showing negative...

orangetriangle · 23/12/2021 19:17

my mum felt sick dizzy and suffered from vertigo after her covid booster

Tifalockhart · 23/12/2021 19:46

Yep I have covid and awful nausea, can’t eat a thing which really isn’t helping recovery

afromom · 23/12/2021 19:53

Yes! It took me by surprise too. I had terrible nausea and diarrhoea for 8 days, I couldn't keep in any food for over a week and lost over a stone. No appetite whatsoever and it took over a week after feeling better to get back to more normal eating. I'm still struggling to eat a big meal at night (positive test was now 6 weeks ago). My booster on Sunday started me off with an upset stomach again!

Bobholll · 23/12/2021 20:09

Covid can def be gastric rather than respiratory. Particularly in kids.

From what I’ve read, it’s far less common, hence why most people get the more traditional symptoms but a fair cohort do get sick instead!

louisejxxx · 23/12/2021 20:28

It was dizziness for me rather than nausea - literally every time I stood up/did anything that wasn’t lying in bed…last message way longer than any other symptoms!

Lemons1571 · 23/12/2021 22:39

I’ve read that those who are omicron covid positive are commonly reporting gastric symptoms (diarrhoea and nausea).

Flora8203 · 23/12/2021 23:32

I've had headache and nausea for last 2 weeks but definitely negative as I have a pcr everyweek for work and lft every day for work and I'm negative. I feel like I have morning sickness everyday...plus I also had a metallic taste in my mouth.
