if you’ve had covid, what days did your LTF test go to negative ,?

I’ve got covid , and my symptoms started on the 17th Dec

i just did another LFT ans there’s still 2 lines
:(, I was hoping i might start testing negative,,?

I developed symptoms on eve of 13th, positive LFT and PCR on 14th. Started testing negative again on LFT on 21st.

@jumpinghoops thanks , if i’m the same as you, i’m hoping i’ll be negative by christmas day (fingers crossed)

I developed symptoms on the 17th, faint positive LFT on the 18th, negative LFT on the 19th and every test since then!
Had a PCR on the 18th, still haven’t got the results….

I’m confused by the whole “negative test on day 6 and 7” thing because I was told not to test for 90 days because of the high chance of residual positives even though you were no longer infectious.

@PotteringAlong - you shouldn’t PCR test in 90 days. They are highly sensitive & can pick up dead virus cells.

LFTs are not very sensitive. They will in 99.9% of cases only pick up the virus when you are infectious.

My LF went negative on day9.. so the new rules wouldn’t have made much difference for me!

You don't PCR test for 90 days.

Different test to LFTs...

Literally was about to post same as Ex DH tested positive on 17th as well and LFT still positive today - Xmas day in the balance - kids haven’t seen him for nearly 2 weeks as they were just about to go back to him for a week. and desperate to see him Xmas day evening.

It’s Sounding like a lot of peoples LFT’s go negative on day 9 then ,,,,

The government website for personal assistants tell them not to use lft for 90 days post positive pcr result.

My DC tested positive on 10th December so it would have been on the 11th when I spoke to them. But I’m a secondary teacher and I’ve got colleagues who were told the same.

I was positive until day 9. Negative only on day 10.

It's doesn't say you can't though.

It says you don't need to unless you are symptomatic...

DS2 tested negative on Day 6, he had the mildest symptoms.

DD negative by day 8.

DS1 still showed positive after 10 days, then gave up testing out of curiosity as he had been doing. He had the most severe symptoms though, was bedbound for a week and still isn't 100% over 3 months later. He was negative when he resumed doing LFTs for school after about six weeks.

I tested positive on the 19th, symptoms started on the 16th (initially thought they were a reaction to booster on the 16th). So I am classing today as day 6 - did an LFT this morning and it was negative. So if it’s also negative tomorrow I’ll be out of isolation on Christmas Day Smile not that we’re going anywhere as already cancelled our Christmas plans!

Got negative LFT on day 4 and I'm again on day 5 (I'm on day 5). My dad had first negative today (day 5).

I should add - incase it's relevant - we are asymptomatic and have had boosters. Maybe that affects our early negative LFT.

You isolate for 10 days and then you can mix with others providing there's no fever ( according to test and trace) you don't test for 90 days afterwards ( unless you have new symptoms) as you can still show positive but you aren't contagious.

It does really depend on the person, my daughter had a positive LFT on Day 1, negative on Day 2 (positive PCR on day 2) and then negative LFT every day thereafter…
