Are you delaying your booster if you've had Covid recently?

I was due to get mine last week but I had to delay it because of a + lateral flow and now I'm isolating. I won't get it until it's safe for me to be amongst other people but I really want to get it ASAP. However the advice is to wait 28 days until after Covid because the side effects can be confused.

I'm curious to know if people are waiting the 28 days?

We're moving this thread to our Coronavirus topic for the OP.

Myself and DP did - both waited 28 days post-positive PCR.

I’ve just googled this as currently have COVID ( and had to cancel my booster). I guess I’ll be waiting 28 days since positive PCR.

Purplebaker · 23/12/2021 13:28

I tested positive on the 8th December and my booster was booked for the 12th. Phoned to cancel and was told to wait 4 weeks before booster.

Have you seen the latest research?
Those who have been double jabbed, then get covid, have 'super immunity'.

You still need your booster, but no need to rush before the 28 days are up.

I got my booster at a walk in centre last night and one of the screening questions they asked was whether you’d had covid in the last 28 days so I think you wouldn’t be able to get your booster until after that anyway.

mrsdolittle · 23/12/2021 13:55

I don't think you'd be able to book it before 28 days OP. I've just booked mine and the first date it offered me was exactly 28 days after my symptoms started

cosmicbabe · 23/12/2021 13:57

If you are double jabbed and now have Corona is there much point in the booster?...

Crackingowlsanctuary · 23/12/2021 14:04

You’re going to be massively protected with your own natural antibodies for a while after if you currently have it. I’ve had to cancel mine as I’m positive too so I’ll just wait the 28 days

JoMumsnet Thanks for moving the post and thanks to all for taking the time to respond.

I'm not concerned about my Covid risk, I had Covid last year too but I definitely want the booster for travel and vaccine passport purposes and I prefer to get things over with ASAP but I'll just have to be patient.
