4th Jab: when will enough be enough?

I just read in the paper that scientists are considering introducing a second booster, ie the fourth vaccine in less than a year. Obviously everyone is rushing to get their third booster at the moment but I was interested in finding out whether any of you have a ‘tipping point’ beyond which you will say no more? Or are people happy to just continue being vaccinated whenever the story changes as to what is actually needed to combat the virus? FYI I have had my first two jabs (which I was assured would protect me until I am now told that I am soon to be classed as ‘unvaccinated’). I wouldn’t describe myself as anti-vax but I feel there is a limit. So what is your tipping point? 4 jabs? 5? 6? Or unlimited?

Utter craziness, I am not having the booster as had 2 vaccinations plus covid only 2 months after second vaccination and it’s publicly stated this is getting milder . Plus with so many having had vaccines plus covid there will be a lot of immunity . It’s the 16th cause of death and 2/3 in hospital with omicron have gone in for something else . Why on earth do people feel the need to keep jabbing away on such weak evidence

There are no suggestions that a fourth dose will be rolled out in the UK anytime soon and there will be discussions over whether to wait for an update vaccine.

I posted about. This yesterday. Now literally just heard on the news that the vaccine effectiveness starts to decline against omicron after 10 weeks! Confused

Luckily they're also saying that Omicron is so mild and people are 50-70% less likely to be hospitalised with it. They didn't specify whether this figure was for unvaccinated or vaccinated. But it aligns with everything coming out of South Africa where many were not vaccinated and very few went into the hospital.

They also reported that there were less than 150 Omicron cases in hospital and that 14 of those had died within 28 days. Obviously those 14 may have had other contributing factors to their death such as cancer, etc. They also said the reason the NHS was overwhelmed was due to so many staff either being sick with covid or having to isolate. Not because of overwhelming high patient numbers.

Hopefully this is the beginning of the end! 🎉

I very reluctantly got the first two because I thought it was the right thing to do. I suffered pretty horrible side effects from both vaccines. I’m not willing to get any more.

Chanel05 · 23/12/2021 18:39

I'd have averaged one every eight weeks if that's the case and I think it's ridiculous. I have omicron at the minute and have only just become eligible for my booster, which I obviously can't get with covid. The booster is sold to my age bracket as extra protection from omicron but when I've already had it, what's the point?

PuzzledObserver · 23/12/2021 20:27

The information seems to change very frequently as to what the vaccines actually do and how many are needed.

That’s because the virus is evolving (as expected) and when a new variant arises, it takes time to discern what effect it will have.

I ask myself what possible reason could the Government have to spend millions/billions vaccinating people if there was no public health imperative to do it. I can’t come up with one.

Comparison with flu….. flu is still much less likely to kill people than Covid, hence the push for more widespread vaccination with Covid.

Maybe in a year, or 2 or 3, enough of the population will have significant immunity from either infection, vaccination, or both, that we can afford to limit boosters to the elderly/vulnerable. But that decision should be lead by science and statistics, not a feeling that enough is enough. Whatever that means.

Obviously the new data is coming now and it seems like omicron are milder which is a good news. But I think what gov did was right to accelerate booster program. It's always better safe than sorry.
Maybe if the omicron is confirmed to be definitely mild and cause less severe disease, the plan may change too, to not to require booster and less restrictions. Everything changes, as we learn more.

@Dollface20

It will never ever be enough All about control They never pushed this hard for the flu Jab that knowing the flu kills thousands each year. 🤷🏼‍♀️Think about it.
What do the government gain by tanking the economy and exposing themselves as lying rule breakers? How could that benefit them? Surely the public gain more control knowing that the government have been breaking rules since they made them

@Mistyplanet

None and im happily not having any jabs. Part of the reason I dont have any covid jabs is covid is unlikely to be severe for me- the same as flu. You can still transmit it with the vaccine anyway. Now we have Omricon which is a mild version of covid I hope to become infected and develop natural immunity. Why would I inject myself with something which I know nothing about and do it multiple times which is probably toxic to my body.
Couldn't agree with you more. Money would be much better spent vaccinating the old and vulnerable. Most other people do not need the vaccines. I had covid 4 months ago, not pleasant but no lasting effects. Yet I hear of all these people who had the vaccine a few months ago and now have covid. Some of the side effects from the vaccines are horrendous, particularly pericarditis and myocarditis in young males.
the80sweregreat · 23/12/2021 21:17

I've really suffered today after my moderna booster, I feel as if I have covid again !
Four jabs this year. I do think that any more next year and take up will be low
I didn't suffer like this with the other jabs.

Idontgiveaf324 · 24/12/2021 12:33

The people insisting that we do have the resources for multiple yearly vaccination drives (for whole population) are talking out of their arses. NHS workers have been working round the clock to vaccinate patients at the expense of other parts of the service. How the hell do you think the vaccines are administered? By fairies? If protection wears off after mere weeks, we’re in real shit. We were told life would go back to normal after vaccine. It’s anything but.

The news about the booster wearing off after ten weeks isn't great ..how they will get people to have a fourth one next year I'm not entirely sure ?
I've had four jabs now this year. The booster made me feel terrible.
