Hi , we’re supposed to be having my step son for Xmas day but one of his colleagues have tested positive for covid so he’ll need to get a test
How accurate would the test be between now and Xmas day if he had the test yesterday?
Would covid show straight away ?
Sorry for my ignorance 🙈

Does he need to get a test? Does he have symptoms?
I thought that if he’s fully vaccinated then just daily lateral flow tests would be ok.

I doubt it would show straight away, when my son tested positive on the Thursday I lateral flowed daily and didn't get a positive until the Sunday

I'd go for the pcr first the lft before he visits, assuming first is negative.

Maggiesgarden · 23/12/2021 12:44

It might be too early for pcr depending on when last contact was. Two of my friends tested negative on pcr then positive on lateral flows after that then had to have a further pcr. Were told it was probably too early for the pcr so if he does one and it’s negative just do daily lateral flows as well.

Thankyou maggiesgarden he’ll do that
