Please what are the rules now? Pcr? Lateral flows? Self isolation?
We were just going to for Xmas! 😢

Pinged? The app? I didn't think anyone still used that Shock.

Officially you need a PCR as a close contact.. but only need to isolate if have symptoms. I think. Unless it's changed again.

Chanel05 · 23/12/2021 07:07

Daily lateral flows if you don't have symptoms.

User762980 · 23/12/2021 07:07

Pinged by what?

idiotfacelicker · 23/12/2021 07:09

Did whatever pinged you not tell you what you need to do? Usually it would be isolation unnecessary but take PCR. I would try and get a quick PCR and get result before leaving anywhere for Christmas but you don't need to legally.

user1471530109 · 23/12/2021 07:11

I think the daily LFT are on top of the PCR...I've lost track of it all tbh

Iggly · 23/12/2021 07:11

Well when was the ping incident and can you work out what the exposure was?

Take daily LFTs - that’s the best you can do. A PCR for symptoms regardless of negative LFTs.

rosie1959 · 23/12/2021 07:13

As long as you are vaccinated I believe need to do a lateral flow test every day for 7 days Of course if you have any symptoms you get a PCR
Unvaccinated rules are different
It’s all on the NHS website

ColettesEarrings · 23/12/2021 07:37

If you've been pinged by the app you don't legally HAVE to do anything. Guidance for contacts is now daily lfts for 7 days, that's it. You could get a pcr as well if you want to be extra cautious.

Taking a PCR will only tell you if you have it at that moment. You can't take it, get a negative result and assume "phew, I'm clear" as you may come down with it over the next couple of days.

Although LFTs aren't as accurate, it seems much better to take them daily after close contact. That's what I have been advised to do by T&T after my DP got Covid last week.

Also, the "ping" must come with a link to guidance as to what to do next?

Surely it won't say "Ping! Surprise! you've had a close contact with some infected with Covid. Now you need to work out what you need to do by asking randoms online".

Hazelnutbean · 23/12/2021 07:54

The fact you're even asking this implies that the ping didn't come with guidance about what you need to do next. Are you sure it's a legitimate message?

LawnFever · 23/12/2021 07:56

If you’re double vaccinated/boosted you don’t have to self isolate or do a PCR unless you have symptoms.

You need to do daily lateral flow tests for 7 days.

ANameChangeAgain · 23/12/2021 07:57

Switch the app off!
If your vaccinated then just keep taking lfts.

LawnFever · 23/12/2021 07:57

The guidance depends on what your vaccination status is.
LynxGiftsetAndSocks · 23/12/2021 07:57

Are there even enough LFTs available these days?

And hasn't guidance changed due to omicron?

happystory · 23/12/2021 07:57

When I was 'pinged' it came with a lengthy explanation, with links, of what to do..l

ANameChangeAgain · 23/12/2021 07:58

Pet hate - you're, not your.

It’s changed, it’s daily lateral flow tests for 7 days if you’re a close contact but you’re vaccinated.
Bellafrenum · 23/12/2021 08:01

Is the app still a thing?? Just delete it.

Remmy123 · 23/12/2021 08:08

No one uses the app

BoxingDayHam · 23/12/2021 08:15

Who is still pinging people? I thought that had stopped.

NerrSnerr · 23/12/2021 08:19

I have the app just running on my phone. Just for interest more than anything as I'm triple jabbed. I got 'pinged' recently and it advised to take a PCR but no isolation needed.

itwasntaparty · 23/12/2021 08:22

I got 'pinged' recently because I had stupid sky downloaded it my mistake when trying to download the other nhs app with the covid pass on it and forgot to delete it.

Because I'm vaccinated I didn't have to do anything.

Then swiftly deleted the app.

Bonkerz · 23/12/2021 08:27

Ignore app. It only counts if track and trace ring you.
Do daily LFT to be safe.
