If i have the booster tomorrow
does it affect your LFT result?
will it make it show as positive if i take an LFT test tomorrow or friday?

No. There is no covid virus in the vaccine and it won't affect your test results.

Flaxmeadow · 23/12/2021 01:23

No

Blondie1984 · 23/12/2021 01:24

Not sure but I deliberately didn’t have my booster when it was due because I was going to the US the week after and heard it could influence the test results

purpleme12 · 23/12/2021 01:31

oh dear i don't know what to do

No. I had my booster nearly 2 weeks ago now, and have continued my schedule of testing every couple of days for work. Nothing.
If you do happen to get a positive (followed by positive PCR), you’ve been unlucky and caught it before the booster has taken full effect.

hashbrownsandwich · 23/12/2021 02:00

As a vaccinator I'm asked this frequently and the simple answer is no. It's not possible.

chutneypig · 23/12/2021 07:18

The lateral flow tests for a different antigen than the spike protein, so the booster won’t affect your tests.

I had my booster on Sunday and have had negative LFTs since.

I had my booster on Monday and have been testing pretty much daily since the weekend. All negative results so far.

PurpleDaisies · 23/12/2021 07:23

No. There is no plausible mechanism for this to happen,

Hazelnutbean · 23/12/2021 08:00

The LFT tests for the virus. The booster doesn't contain the virus.... (unlike old style vaccines which had modified forms of viruses they were protecting against).

Mindymomo · 23/12/2021 08:16

You now get a PCR test to confirm you have covid and preferably isolate until you get results and if it comes back positive, you isolate for the recommended days and it’s a good idea to let people know who you have been in close contact to. Don’t worry about telling people, it’s not your fault you may have caught it.

What do you mean? It won't affect your LFT result.
SundayTeatime · 23/12/2021 08:19

No. It won’t affect it.

@Porcupineintherough nope, it was actually a pretty smart move given that the trip was to get another form of medical treatment that will have a far greater impact on my health

How was it a smart move ? The booster wouldn't affect LFT/PCR results . It would have given extra protection on your flight and while having a medical procedure .
Am I missing something here ?
