Children and 7 day isolation

The new rules for isolating are for the fully vaccinated, so does this not apply to under 12s who cannot be vaccinated or teenagers who have not yet been able to have a second vaccine?

OP posts:
ColettesEarrings · 22/12/2021 14:48

It's anyone with covid regardless of vaccination status.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 22/12/2021 14:51

@ColettesEarrings

No it’s not, just double vaccinated adults!

Unknown about kids sorry but wanted to correct above!

ASimpleLobsterHat · 22/12/2021 14:53

BBC website says it applies to anyone regardless of vaccination status. The 10 day isolation for close contacts who are unvaccinated is still in force though so that could be what’s causing the confusion?

Nope, read it again. www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-households-with-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection

For anyone actually WITH covid regardless of age or vaccination status. Contact isolation remains the same for the unvaccinated, still ten days.

marieantoinehairnet · 22/12/2021 14:58

It feels a bit like kids are an afterthought in all of this anyway

Dghgcotcitc · 22/12/2021 15:01

Not really an after thought they can be released early with two negative lft same as everyone else..doesn’t need a specific oh and kids too headline that I can see!

ColettesEarrings · 22/12/2021 15:14

Actually to specify more fully following my second post above, all contact isolation remains the same - fully vaccinated adults and under 18s don't have to contact isolate anyway, only unvaccinated or single jabbed adults.

Contacts isolate longer than people with confirmed Covid? That can't be right, can it?
Frazzled2207 · 22/12/2021 16:00

@containsnuts
Yes because it could take them a few days to catch it off you

OP
Earlier press releases said it only applied to vaccinated adults but later articles clarified that 7 days applied to all

Yes, but the OP's question was specifically about the new rules for isolation, which refer to people who have Covid, and apply to everyone regardless of their vaccination status. The rules for close contacts are unchanged (and those under 18 do not have to isolate as a close contact - from your link "if you are fully vaccinated or aged under 18 years and 6 months, and you live in the same household as someone with COVID-19, you are not legally required to self-isolate. However, you are strongly advised to take an LFD test every day for 7 days, and to self-isolate if any of these test results is positive")
Giveaschitt · 22/12/2021 16:20

Sorry, didn't mean to quote you @ColettesEarrings - you're saying the same thing as me!

Florabella · 22/12/2021 16:24

Thanks all - no wonder I was confused. Seems like it's not just me. My daughter was due out of isolation on 29th, so hoping that it might be brought forward to 26th with the 2 neg lfts. She is 14 with 1 vaccine

@OnceuponaRainbow18 you are incorrect, please don't go "correcting" others with your incorrect interpretation, it confuses things unnecessarily

ColettesEarrings · 22/12/2021 16:53

@Giveaschitt That's exactly what I said though, OP was subsequently saying that it didn't apply to children. I said it did - the same as you have!

ColettesEarrings · 22/12/2021 16:54

@Giveaschitt I should have read your second post too - I'm a numpty! 😂😂😂

ColettesEarrings · 22/12/2021 16:55

@containsnuts If they are unvaccinated, yes. 🤷🏻‍♀️
