Bleeding during / after covid

I know lots of people reported bleeding after the vaccine, I had this too after my first. I am wondering if anyone else has had abnormal bleeding since having covid? I started bleeding 5 days into covid, and haven't really stopped since (2 weeks now). Light spotting mostly. I have spoken to gp who said it was nothing to do with covid and I've had perimenppause blood tests. I have had irregular bleeding in the past which was investigated, so its not overly unusual. But it never lasted this long. But I just wondered if other women had this with actual covid infection.

Yes the vaccine affected my cycles for a good few months, I read alot of women experience the same thing

After my first vaccine ( Pfizer) I never had a period for four months.

Bleeding has been variable each month since having the second vaccine as well.

Sorry op . I mis read this.

I haven't had covid- I thought you were talking about the vaccine.

Yeah - I know bleeding with jabs is a 'thing'. I wondered if actual covid infection has been interfering with menstrual cycles.

Yes unfortunately the two AZ vaccines messed up by menstrual cycle for a couple of months

Yes, I've not had Covid but there's been some reports on this:

There's known to be ace receptors on the ovaries

Abstract
Study question: Does the immune response to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection or the BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine involve the ovarian follicle, and does it affect its function?
Summary answer: We were able to demonstrate anti-severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) IgG in follicular fluid (FF) from both infected and vaccinated IVF patients, with no evidence for compromised follicular function.

I am a bit menopausal but haven't had a proper period for a year - just occasional spotting. Tested positive last week and have been flooding. May be coincidence and anecdotal but bit strange.....

quiteathome · 22/12/2021 12:48

I had covid, and since then have had mid cycle spotting. All investigations showed everything was normal.

ewchoc · 22/12/2021 14:21

Yes, I've just had covid and it brought my period forward by a few days. Ironically if it sticks this will be more convenient for various holidays etc in a few months time!

perfectpanda · 22/12/2021 16:53

Thanks for replies. It is reassuring to know others have bled - although I know it could be coincidence. It makes sense that if the immune response to the vaccine might affect periods, the same would be true about having actual covid. But I haven't read as many accounts of this as I have read about the vaccine and covid.

Did you ever get any answers OP?

Just come across your thread as I was seeking the same sort of reassurance as the same thing is happening with me at the mo.

Hope yours has resolved by now x
