Scratchy throat

Is this a symptom of the new variant? I have a scratchy throat, little bit hoarse. I don't have any other symptoms and negative antigen tests. Did go for a pcr test this afternoon but just curious do you think it could be covid?

My very first symptom was a scratchy throat, 2days before I tested positive on LF ( was doing them daily as my son had tested positive) obviously I don't know for sure which varient I've caught though, but it was a covid symptom in my case anyway.

I have had 2 colds recently that began with classic sore throat & then runny nose, so same symptoms as omricon. Got a PCR both times, negative on both. Obv this may not be the same for you but def worth remembering that other viruses are available! Should also add that both colds were worse for me than the (delta) covid I had in the summer

I've had 2 bad sinus type colds in the last 5 weeks so if this turns out to be covid it really is the icing on the cake!

Yes the scratchy throat / hoarse voice is pretty much my only COVID symptom so far. It’s still a bit of a shock when I start to speak and that voice comes out. It sounds a lot worse than it is.

I had this last week and was convinced it was COVID.
Scratchy throat which developed into a bit of a 'mucus' cough and feeling run down.
The news convinced me it was Omicron as I had spent a few days in London.
4 negative LFTs and 2 negative PCRs and I'm pretty sure it was just a cold.

DH just had this at the end of the kids having covid but he's had negative lat flows and negative pcr so is just a cold.

I actually started a thread saying the same thing. I've done a pcr and waiting for the result but starting to think it's just a cold. I feel fine ! Throat is occasionally tickly now and the odd sneeze but that's about it. The media's made me super paranoid

Negative pcr test!

This was exactly the symptoms my son has he tested positive on a LFT on Monday and it's just been confirmed via PCR that he is positive ,I have just got off the phone from test and trace ,but they couldn't tell me variant he has and I'm curious as it's only six months since he last had it!

I have scratchy throat, really snotty nose (runny snot at the moment), headache and exhausted. Also got a pcr today as felt guilty not getting one and potentially spreading it. 🤞🤞🤞🤞 for negative but if not at least I’ll know.

Yes, itchy throat was my first sign. Next day the sneezing started and the cough overnight.

Friend of mine has this and a temp. Negative PCR today. They get something similar at this time of year, every single year.

I PCR tested positive today and it started with a sore throat. Then couldn’t speak properly and then fatigue, three LFTs all negative including one the day before.
Cough not until a few days later but nothing major. Feel fine now

A friend with exact same symptoms and much worse condition PCR tested same day and was negative. 🤷‍♀️ She’s still quite unwell.

I’ve got nasty cold symptoms right now (snotty, blocked ears, headache, productive cough) that started with scratchy throat then sore throat for a week.

Had a PCR just after the scratchy throat started and negative.

Had another 2 days ago when cold and cough symptoms started and negative again.

Feel like shit but after a week of daily lateral flows and 2x PCRS I’m willing to accept it’s not covid and crack on (albeit I will be double masking and being v distant when I need to go out- nobody wants what I’ve got. It’s shit).

It's a weird one ,I had all the symptoms of COVID a few months back. ,bad cough included several tests including PCR all negative 🤷 Yet this is 2nd time my oldest son has tested positive in six months ,with only very mild symptoms thankfully.

Yes, this was my first symptom. Negative lft at first but positive a couple of days later and then positive pcr.

I had a scratchy throat few days ago, daily LFT all negative up until this Monday, then PCR taken yesterday is positive.
I wasn't feeling too bad but I wanted to rule it out as we were meant to be seeing large family on Christmas day. Got mild cold symptoms now with sneezing, runny nose and productive cough. Glad I went for the test although it didn't fit the usual symptoms at all.

It's said to be a symptom of omicron but honestly it could be anything. I had a scratchy throat a few weeks ago that was not covid. I have since tested positive with different symptoms and my throat was unaffected.
