Swollen glands/lymph nodes after Pfizer

UseHerName · 21/12/2021 20:03

I had my Pfizer booster on Sunday at 11, had vertigo like symptoms about 30 mins after. The injection site is red, hot and sore more than 48 hours later and my glands under my arm on the side I got my vaccine have swollen - I feel like I have a golf ball in my armpit!

Anyone else had the same?

Feeling fluey and achy and all round miserable!

I've felt really under the weather since having the Pfizer booster, aches and pains, sore eyes and neck. Hopefully you feel better soon.

catblanket · 21/12/2021 20:20

Yes I had this with my second dose - especially the glands being up in my armpit on the side I had the injection.

Sparkai · 21/12/2021 20:20

Just an achy arm and swollen armpit. Much better than covid!

Fireweeds · 21/12/2021 20:21

Yes, not as bad after booster, but definitely up & one in my armpit was up for about a week after my second dose.

drawthelatch · 21/12/2021 20:27

I know someone who had swollen glands under her arm for a few days. Settled down quite quickly though.

UseHerName · 21/12/2021 20:29

Alright - seems pretty common! Imagination was running away with me!

Hope everyone is feeling better now

I had mine yesterday evening. Felt rough all day. Very very tired and achy all over.

Tayegete · 21/12/2021 20:43

I had swollen lymph nodes and aches in the underside of my arm as well for a couple of days. Apparently it’s a good sign as it means it is provoking an immune reaction.

PilatesPeach · 21/12/2021 20:45

yes same - swollen armpit after 2nd jab, nothing after 1st or booster though all Pfizer

SarahWoodWould · 21/12/2021 20:46

Yes DS had the golf ball in the armpit for 2-3 days.

UseHerName · 21/12/2021 20:49

Ahhh ok, hopefully the end’s in sight tomorrow!!

I had Pfizer booster on Monday and I feel ok but the glands in my left armpit are really bothering me! Glad I’m not the only one!

Wellbythebloodyhell · 21/12/2021 21:04

Didn't feel too ill after my booster but I definitely had a very swollen/sore armpit for a few days after, was told by a GP friend that this is a very good response to have from the vaccine it means your immune system is on full alert that it needs to protect you from something so hopefully the few days pain is well worth the long term gain of immune response

Hazelbazel · 21/12/2021 22:01

I had golf ball armpit! It went down a lot within 24 hours and was completely gone in a couple of days. I don’t know anyone else who has had it!

Fireweeds · 22/12/2021 01:18

Actually I’ve remembered (because it’s up again after booster) it’s not just my armpit but also in front of my shoulder/ around the end of my collarbone as well. Quite uncomfortable really, but could be worse.

nanny2012nanny · 22/12/2021 01:58

Please report under the nhs yellow card schenec

nanny2012nanny · 22/12/2021 02:00

Scheme!!!
Reporting any side effects helps x

Fireweeds · 22/12/2021 06:29

I thought swollen glands were a recognised side effect? I thought yellow cards were for new things?

Sparkai · 22/12/2021 14:17

It is a recognised side effect. I was warned about it when I went for my second vaccine (done by a lady who was incredibly thorough. No one else mentioned it, but it is a common side effect to lors of vaccines i think)
thelittlestrhino · 22/12/2021 14:21

Yes I had this too. At its worst 2 days after jag, then progressively eased off over the next couple of days.

Echofallen · 22/12/2021 14:23

Yep I had armpit pain 2 nights after the Pfizer booster then the next morning it was like a golf ball. It's receding now.

iloveayankeecandle · 23/12/2021 14:05

How long have people felt poorly for? I'm on day three of not feeling well.

UseHerName · 23/12/2021 22:49

@iloveayankeecandle I’m on day 5 now, still tired, arm warm and itchy, lump in armpit going down a bit

Aches and nausea are gone

My dd had swollen glands in her armpit and neck after jab. Took her to see leading breast professor Kefah Mokbel who told us he was seeing a lot of this after jabs. Had it scanned just to be sure.. nothing to worry about.

Mykittensmittens · 23/12/2021 23:06

Same

2x AZ and a Pfizer booster. Booster did me in! 24 hours fine, then awful fatigue. A red hot band round my arm which you could fry an egg on. And the lymph node thing - collar bone was the worst - was visibly swollen and couldn’t stand even clothing on it. So painful.

That continued for 4 days. 5th day it subsided but it took 7 days to feel normal.

Wasn’t fun. But I don’t want to discourage anyone and I’d have it again no questions when it’s due - just seen DH come out of Covid and I wouldn’t want that myself.
