Im not trying to scare people or spread "conspiracies" but this is really worrying to me.

Why are they reporting this when they know this will only fuel propaganda?

probably the same reason you are posting it here...to wind people up

it wouldn't open for me anyway

wingingmumlife · 21/12/2021 19:13

@LynxGiftsetAndSocks I'm not posting to wind people up at all!

So the company has been using the chips since 2015 and yet we have not seen any mass rollout. You are worried, why?

The fact that he can wave his phone over the chip to open an app is hardly an advantage over opening the app yourself, is it?

Proper link 🤷🏻‍♀️ whatever. Who cares really at this point, there's plenty of other whacky stuff in the world. Not me.

MarbleQueen · 21/12/2021 19:17

I agree it’s worrying. It’s been in the pipeline for quite some time.

pigsinblanketsrule · 21/12/2021 19:18

I don't find it worrying.

Coriandersucks · 21/12/2021 19:18

Why is it worrying you? Microchip technology has been around for ages and was always going to b an option at some point - they’re just highlighting that in addition to being able to pay for things it can store vaccine information.

They are just using covid to gain publicity for their product. Technology is moving all the time, doesn't mean we are obliged to use it.

Surveillance capitalism, data capitalism etc etc are among the most lucrative businesses. Capitalism in general thrives by providing solutions to problems, and one problems have been solved, new problems have to be identified, or perhaps created to ensure growth.

We've been soft soaked into accepting and then becoming dependent on technology for convenience, fun, and more recently environmental reasons. It is now virtually impossible to function in society without accepting the relentless march of technology. The pandemic is an absolute bean feast in this regard - a tech company that didn't exploit this rich new seam of opportunity would be seen to doing its shareholders a massive disservice.

It ain't pretty but it's where we are unfortunately......
