And now has a cold. He did couple of lfts that were clear negatives. Now he doesn't want to test anymore because his parents and brother with his family are coming to us for Xmas. I asked if he is not worried that he has covid and passes it to them he just said that they all are boosted. I wouldn't meet my family without testing but they are abroad and we won't see them this time.

If he's a close contact and has symptoms it's a pcr he needs not an lft

bumblefeline · 21/12/2021 18:19

My DH tested positive today by PCR. He took loads of lateral flows all negative.

PriamFarrl · 21/12/2021 18:19

I got pinged today.
It said do a daily LFT if you don’t have symptoms and are vaccinated.

Vintagegoth · 21/12/2021 18:22

Keep testing. Book a PCR and hope the results are back before the family visit.

Lindy2 · 21/12/2021 18:23

He needs a PCR test.

If he has any regard for you or his family he needs to find out if he currently has Covid.

If he won't test then phone his family and cancel them coming. I very much doubt they want a dose of Omicron as a Christmas gift.

Fallagain · 21/12/2021 18:26

He needs a PCR. Its incredible selfish of him not to. Is he at least going to tell his family that he has been exposed to covid and is choosing not the follow government guidelines so they maybe at risk of catching covid?

Fallagain · 21/12/2021 18:27

Thats the minimum legal requirement. You are also advised to get a PCR test.

@mumnb are his family all at least 2 weeks post booster?

Spottybluepyjamas · 21/12/2021 18:31

I think a lot of people get negative LFT results. Really he needs to get a PCR unless he's happy with the risk of spreading it

mumnb · 21/12/2021 18:40

Pil are over 60 and boosted already over a month ago. Dh has headache and snotty nose but overall rather mild.

DD's best friend is going to pcr tomorrow because her dad tested positive. I asked if we should lft dd but Dh said no more testing before Xmas.

At the very least his family need to be informed so they can make their own decision about whether to still come or not!

Theunamedcat · 22/12/2021 12:07

The family should be told its his choice to not be tested but you dont potentially infect someone

Theimpossiblegirl · 22/12/2021 12:27

No more testing before Christmas is basically putting his head in the sand and being very selfish. He's being a dick. His family need to know so they can make informed choices.
