Hit the peak or less testing?

I read a report earlier saying cases already seem to be dropping/have peaked. Do you think that's accurate, or that less people are testing as they don't want to be isolating over Christmas?

Funny that because I was just thinking any decrease this week is down to people not testing to avoid Christmas isolation. Which of course will be a wholly inaccurate picture of the infected numbers but may offer BJ the golden opportunity to ‘save Christmas’ and then deal with the mess in the new year.

I was reading about the expected drop in reported cases earlier - there was a drop last Christmas and then it started going up very sharply again.

With Royal Mail so overwhelmed and the labs working through more tests than usual, how much do reporting delays account for the slowdown in cases?
