How likely is it we’ll test positive do you think?

Sigh

My ds’s girlfriend has just tested positive (woke feeling unwell). We’ve all tested negative this morning (dh and I 3 jabs, children 2). All except dh have had Covid - ds and I Sept 2020, dd July 2021. He last saw her on Sunday.

I know no two cases are the same but is it safe to assume ds will get it (irritatingly his booster is tomorrow morning).

Now need to have conversation with my df. Dd in tears.

Bloody Covid!

Pretty likely your DS will get it.
Then, it's if you catch it from him, which depends a lot if you shut him away from now on out.

ShowOfHands · 21/12/2021 11:07

Nobody knows. There are people like me who had an extremely unwell positive child literally on top of her at times, sleeping in the same bed, coughed on, sneezed on, vomited on and didn't catch it and people who've isolated 99% of the time and don't know of any positive cases but still catch it.

ExplodingCarrots · 21/12/2021 11:23

Hard to say. My DD has just had it. We didn't isolate her to her room as she's only 8 and me and DH never got it. We had numerous tests done and still regularly do LFTs.
But DH work colleagues went on their Xmas do (DH didn't go) and caught it .

Thank you - I know nobody can tell I just feel ground down.

I work in a secondary school in a pastoral role and the last two weeks have been quite honestly rather scary and my stress levels have been high. I had thought maybe things might be better now we’ve made it to the holidays.

I’m just tired and exhausted- the last two years have battered me down and had a negative impact on my childrens mental health.

I know we’re lucky we haven’t lost anyone close to us but I just need some hope

No advice, just sympathy Flowers The last 2 years have been horrible. Hopefully this Omicron variant gives us more to learn from to hasten us towards normality more quickly.

Thank you - I’m sitting on my bed having a little cry before putting my happy face back on to try and jolly everyone up a bit.

It's really hard. At least there's good Christmas tv on at the moment! I'm having to cancel a holiday I was hoping was going to cheer us all up and I can't even have a drink over Christmas as I'm pregnant 🤦🏼‍♀️ at least I don't have to worry about work over the next week...

strawflower · 21/12/2021 12:07

I usually feel better after a good cry to get it all out Flowers

CagneyNYPD1 · 21/12/2021 12:14

In all honesty, no one knows. I assume that it is only ds who has had contact with the gf. In that case, I would be telling ds to isolate in his room until his PCR results are through. And tell him to do daily LFTs for the duration of his gf's self isolation period if his the PCR comes back negative. Flowers

CagneyNYPD1 · 21/12/2021 12:16

Oh and you are perfectly entitled to feel worn down by it all. I can understand the need to pull yourself together and put on the face. But in the midst of that, please do take time to look after yourself.

LadyLazarus40 · 21/12/2021 13:00

Thank you for the kind thoughts - fingers crossed it’ll swerve us this time - I have this vision of spending the holidays with Covid and recovering just in time to go back to work to help run the in school testing for students Grin

strawflower I’m so sorry about your holiday Flowers

Hard to say. Even if today's tests come back negative. It doesn't mean you won't get it - might be just too soon. Dp caught it off someone and 2 days after exposure he was negative on pcr , the next day positive on a lft and confirmed by pcr.

AD80 · 21/12/2021 13:05

I hope you all miss it though. Good chance seeing as you've had it before 💕

LadyLazarus40 · 24/12/2021 12:09

All still negative- hopefully we’re past the biggest danger now.

Fingers crossed for all those hoping on negative tests x
