Anyone else keep getting PCR tests with no security seal?

Or is it just us??

We had a couple in the summer with no security seal so had to ring up and wait for replacement kits. (The person on the end of the phone confirmed that you can’t return them with no seal.)

DH got pinged this week for close contact… his kit arrived today and - no security seal. It’s now 8 days since the alleged contact (which happened on a day he spent no significant time indoors with anyone) so am tempted to just ignore it.

Anyone else had this or are we just unlucky?

Yes we had some, so annoying.
We just went to get one instead.

Bubblty · 20/12/2021 16:16

Yeah I did but fortunately I had one with about 8 in once so I have some spares

NotThisWeekSatan · 20/12/2021 16:22

Yafilthyanimal yes that’s what DH has done now. PITA though, not to mention the wasted resources all round.

Bubblty Grin great quality control…

Over the last year or so I've had with no security seal, one with no postage label, one with no sample tube and one with no instruction booklet

Onlythelonely1 · 20/12/2021 16:29

We did - we fixed it carefully with sellotape and posted it (didn't wrap the tape around the box, just put small strips where the seal should go), and wrote on the box that no seal was provided. It was accepted.

Yes, we had one a couple of weeks ago. I stupidly registered/carried out the test before checking the full contents of the box Blush, so I had to book a walk in appt (119 advised us to do so).

Saucery · 20/12/2021 16:56

I put a parcel tape square where the seal should go and wrote ‘No Seal Provided’. It was processed ok.

mintfuschia · 20/12/2021 16:58

I've used strong tape the same shape as the security seal before now and it's been processed fine. The royal mail label being missing is more of a problem.

NotThisWeekSatan · 20/12/2021 19:04

It’s mad isn’t it? Good for future reference to know that they process them without the seal as that’s not what 119 told us.

Mind you, when I said what a waste of time and money it was sending out incomplete kits, he also said ‘But they’re free’……Hmm

Free?!? Confused I'm pretty sure the tax payer will be paying a tidy amount to Boris friends for these!

NotThisWeekSatan · 20/12/2021 19:49

gofigureit I did tell him that in no uncertain terms!!
