Does anyone know this ?

I'd like to know and hope they are looking at it. Anecdotally it seems much shorter which could have benefits in reducing isolation for those who are infected but not unwell.

ShamalaHamala · 20/12/2021 13:16

I was at an event recently and the last person to go down with it took a full 7 days before they got a positive lft followed by positive pcr.

Sloelydoesit · 20/12/2021 14:49

It got me in less than 36 hours!

DrunkenKoala · 20/12/2021 15:02

I heard 2-3 days which fits with my BIL, it was about 60 hrs between contact and symptoms starting.

sergeantmajor · 20/12/2021 15:07

As far as I can tell based on my family experience it is about 2 days

flyinghigghh · 20/12/2021 15:08

Got me in 24 hours 😫

janicewheeler · 20/12/2021 16:04

Short then!! I went out sat night to a packed pub and onto a meal and today woke up with a scratchy throat, could be a coincidence I guess but I'm the type of person who never gets ill usually 🙄

Are you sure that there wasn't a more recent contact that could have caused the infection as 7 days does seem to be quite an outlier.

Or maybe it was Delta - still a lot of that about.
NearlyAlwaysInsane · 20/12/2021 16:39

It depends. Incubation to when you feel weird, or when the alien bursts out and starts eating people?

HollyChristmas · 20/12/2021 16:39

Read up about it yesterday . They say as short as 12 - 24 hours.

A scratchy/dry throat is apparently one of the main symptoms of Omicron. Would think about getting a PCR
Fifipop185 · 20/12/2021 17:01

Mine was either 24 or 48 hours. Scratchy throat was the first symptom. Get a test if you haven't already OP.

janicewheeler · 20/12/2021 17:01

@Silversun83 I did read this too which is why I made the thread. Properly paranoid now 😆
Im meant to be getting my booster tomorrow aswell. Typical! To be honest it was worse this morning and I had a little nap this afternoon it doesn't seem as bad now, could a sore throat come and go ?

Based on my many friends who have it at the moment, it's 2-3 days after they posted pictures of themselves at a Christmas party or in the pub.

janicewheeler · 21/12/2021 10:25

I've got a pcr arriving today. Throat isn't scratchy today, now it's occasionally tickley and coughing a tiny bit. Don't know if I've overreacted by getting a pcr and maybe I'm just being paranoid

OP posts:
Icequeen01 · 21/12/2021 11:49

You most certainly aren't being paranoid. I've currently got Covid and mine started with a scratchy throat which lasted a day. My 11 work colleagues who have all tested + and who have been going down with it since last Thursday all started with a scratchy throat. Some still have it but most disappeared quickly.

Tilly28 · 21/12/2021 11:53

No idea if we've had omicron or delta but I came down with it, then my DS 5 days later, DD1+2 two days later and then DD3 four days after that! DH still negative for now but he is triple vaccinated so could be why! Whereas I missed my booster as was due the day I got a positive LFT. All DC aren't vaccinated as too young.

janicewheeler · 21/12/2021 12:13

I've done a lft and it's come back negative. Not sure if that means I'm in the clear ? I know they're not that reliable are they. I do have a headache and certainly feel like I've got something
Just abit pissed off to be honest as the timing isn't great with Xmas a few days away

OP posts:
RifRafia · 21/12/2021 12:19

I tested positive on PCR last Thurs, my first symptom was sore throat. Had tested negative on LFT in the 7 days before and on the day of my positive PCR as had been advised to test daily for work. Have also taken a LFT twice in the last week out of curiosity and still showing negative, despite me being quite poorly. Moral of my story I suppose is probably best to wait for PCR result...

Sorry I feel like I'm the harbinger of doom and I don't mean to be, but one of my work colleagues has been doing daily LFDs since we all started to drop like flies. She's been negative every time and even did 3 PCR tests - first one inconclusive, second one negative, third one yesterday positive 😢
Senso21 · 21/12/2021 12:45

I was wondering this. Also, if you got infected how long until you are infectious to others. E.g if someone you are with Xmas eve has it (unknowingly) and you catch it but don’t realise yet, would you then be passing it on to others by Xmas day?

Sorry if that’s a stupid question!
