DD and flatmate have been in the Alps.
Both had negative LFD to return but felt rough the day after landing so took more LFDs which were both positive so took PCRs. Sounds like they've both got Covid. Double vaccinated, with booster booked for tomorrow which they've cancelled.
Does the 10 days isolation start from symptoms or swab result? If results are taking 2 days this obviously effects their plans.
Will they be told the variant?
TIA

It's from the start of symptoms. That day plus 10 full days

DiamondintheDirt · 20/12/2021 07:58

I forgot to mention, they've done two PCRs private one for day 2 and one for NHS

If you’ve got symptoms, it starts from them.
If you don’t have symptoms, it’s your test date.
If you have a positive test but no symptoms and later get them, it restarts from then.

The first day of any of the above is day zero, then you isolate for the next ten days. How long your test takes to come back is irrelevant.

Why did they do another one with the nhs? A pcr is a pcr. I might be reading that wrong.

It’s the test date that matter, not when it comes back. Here, since they had symptoms it doesn’t matter anyway.

Really? Have you got a link for this?

A colleague had asymptomatic positive LFT after being close contact followed by positive pcr.

She was told 10 days from day of pcr test. 4 days in she lost sense of taste for 3-4 days.

She isolated for 10 days only and was told only 10 days required.

Here: it’s on the nhs site.

Lots of people don’t seem to know this.

Thanks for the replies, do you know if they'll be advised of the variant?
