Positive lft after 30mins

Dh and I have been feeling a little lousy the past few days - generally a bit tired and headaches but nothing major.

We regularly lft as have kids in schools & elderly parents look after our baby while I work 2ce a week.

We took our usual Sunday pcr and after 30 mins all looked normal. Went to watch a movie (in the lounge not cinema!) and came back 2 hours later and dh has now returned a faint positive. No one else has anything on test.

We’ve booked pcrs but I’ve now read any reading after 30 mins should be disregarded. He’s done another lft and negative at 30 mins.

Is it true after 30 minutes it doesn’t count?

After 30 mins the result is void

I had this a few days ago, got a PCR test anyway as I had symptoms but it was negative.
If you don't have symptoms I would just do another LFT

Disregard it.

This happened to me on Friday. I went for a PCR and it confirmed I was negative.

Which LFT’s are you using? The Floflex ones should be ready within 15 mins I think.

I've had the odd one that showed a very faint line after a couple of hours. It's not happened with subsequent ones, so I assume it must be some characteristic of the chemicals in a few tests, or how I handled it between reading it at 30/15 minutes and reporting and disposing of it.

It does say don't report as positive if they aren't at 30 minutes.

Read the instructions?

This is interesting as my kids had the same faint like outside the testing window when they were a close contact with someone. Each time a PCR said negative, on one occasion we did two PCRs as my eldest had been in very close contact with a positive child just before they tested. Interestingly neither of my kids have had covid and pretty much 90% of their classes have now. So my theory is maybe they did have it but for whatever reason it just didn’t show on a PCR.

We’ve never had a faint line outside of the testing window since.

this happened to dd2 and it was a very clear positive with a positive pcr the next day.

But you aren't supposed to look after the time.
